@Open_Selection opposes this authoritarian move by the Labour Party.
This is a betrayal of democracy on which the Party purports to stand and on which @Keir_Starmer campaigned for leadership.

I would also add that if you want more British AOCs, we need Open Selection for Labour MPs to allow more AOCs to actually win seats.
AOC defeated an incumbent centrist Democrat in a safe district because she could run against him in an open election. We need Open Selection.
@AaronBastani So - why? These MPs were selected & elected thanks to mass support from left activists.
But without #OpenSelection they aren’t accountable to their base. Only to the press narrative & their careers.
This is a fundamental structural difference to JusticeDems etc in the US.
It’s not (just) lack of moral fibre, Max. It’s the lack of democratic accountability to the members.
Without #OpenSelection, this will *always* happen.
(PS - pass it on to @LenMcCluskey?)
Why have so few @socialistcam & other allied MPs signed for #JeremyCorbyn in spite of massive support from the grassroots?
Because we don’t have #OpenSelection.
Remove accountability to the members, and all that’s left is accountability to the press & to their careers.
@BeckettUnite Completely agree, Howard.
Which makes it even more depressing that @UnitePolitics whipped its delegates at Labour Conference 18 to vote for the fix that stopped our #OpenSelection motion coming to the floor for a vote.
With Unite support, it would have passed.
