@ASAC_Ballshaver@wariocolosseum Small correction, it might not exactly be HDR to blame, but it was definitely a cherry-picked screenshot designed to make the game look worse on purpose.
@StarFall_Spring@martindlund@Th3MangaAddict A "bootlegged" copy is a physical reproduction, a fake copy trying to look like the real thing for profit. NOBODY likes these, they're a scam.
A "pirated" copy is a free, digital version of the original. This does no immediate harm, as there is no profit.
@ASAC_Ballshaver@wariocolosseum You're close.
On Wii, the assets of Wuhu Island during the flying sections are optimized for being viewed from a moderate distance. There's also less things physically present, with less activity.
The Switch 2 screenshot is not correctly displaying HDR color. It's washed out.
@Dani341743@Meadowbrook_@lg2R5KG80ARjDzZ I refuse to engage with someone intolerant and ignorant enough to use the "bad because DEI" argument, because you're already engaging in bad faith.
You're likely a bot anyway. Name, buncha numbers, no posts, racial slurs in your media tab...
You're worse than shit.
@BenjiKnowsBest@Weston_Mitchell@Aryvyo I did get blindsided by this a while ago, but the employee that the article mentions actually does talk about using LLMs all the time.
There's still zero proof that vibecoding has been widely adopted by Valve as a company, but this one guy seems to enjoy LLMs a lot.
@uncommoncrawl@_trundler@chhopsky The majority of what I said before was in reference to the article trundler had linked, which was about one interview two years ago.
The one you linked was a newer interview that I hadn't seen. It also has the shittiest audio quality I've ever heard.
@uncommoncrawl@_trundler@chhopsky When I was initially replying to trundler, I wasn't aware that the one guy referenced in the article actively posts about using LLMs to this day. It's still not widely adopted at Valve.
@uncommoncrawl@_trundler@chhopsky I'm fully aware of what generative AI is, and what LLMs are.
GenAI is built on machine learning, but that doesn't mean all ML algorithms are the same thing as GenAI or LLMs.
That's like saying all lawn mowers are cars because they contain engines.
@2TZqsoovLt19496@JohnFunnyMans After playing the pirated version, the incentive to *play* the legitimate version might vanish. However, we would still happily pay for it.
For example, I watched my friend play "AI: The Somnium Files" all the way through. When she was done, I bought the game at full price.

@Novaz0rFurry@sourcegallery1 No, I disagree. It looks like raw Google Earth data.
Textured planes that have city cutouts on them would be used for much farther away, and normally don't have mismatched 3D geometry on them.
@ChimpFuckDotCom@ferelich@MartiansGame@mitsuko_harada Working within limitations is fun for some people. A lot of people enjoy older games, and enjoy making new games that look like older games.
Retro is trendy, get with the times, you single-celled amoeboid.
