Who Is America’s Homer?
If England has Shakespeare, Spain has Cervantes, Italy has Dante, and Russia has Pushkin, then who do we have? Do we have a great poet who captures the American spirit, the American story, the American identity? We asked for contributions from @fxxfy, @DanaGioiaPoet, @zenahitz, Emily Wilson, @ae_stallings, @_Zeets, @JcScharl, @amjuster, @RossBarkan, Christian Wiman.

@wil_da_beast630@john_william Argue better. "Creationism" esp. young-earth creationism has had no role in these violent disputes. Don't change the terms of the debate.
@ArtemisConsort Not Wrong. I find the responses here illuminating. Many in STEM do distain the humanities, not because of the humanities themselves, but because they are fake/unreal. (It is evidently possible to make your way in them as an imbecile.)
Oh really? White House logs did not report on the meeting? Must not have happened. I expected a line: "Meet 7' tall extraterrestrials." Who can you trust anymore?
0 F = extremely cold
100 F = extremely hot
0 C = kinda chilly
100 C = you're dead
Conclusion: centigrade is a scale created by complete morons

@ArtemisConsort@wil_da_beast630 I don’t think it is an argument against Mormonism directly, it is a way of clarifying the distinction/irreconcilable differences between Christianity and Mormanism.
@McBagginns@IanBurkePerry@wil_da_beast630 That is the point I believe. Their proclamations of nominal “gospel” are widespread. Getting at any other more complex doctrine is not easy, especially the nature of God and Christ. note the continuous use of wiggle words.
@JohnHMcWhorter Very much depends on the size/form factor. Often a pretty clear line between a knife being carried to cut things open, etc., and one being carried as a weapon. A knife with a blade much over 3, 3 1/2 inches is actually harder to use for most tasks.
