@datacology The performance of vector tiles is currently better in MapLibre. It just feels smoother. There is ongoing webgl work in OL, so this may change in the future. A globe mode is not planned AFAIK. For global scenarios I really like having this option.
ORBAT Mapper is phasing out OpenLayers to focus 100% on MapLibre.
The old map won't get new features and will be removed soon. Missing anything in the new map? Let me know!
OpenLayers has served me well, and I honestly still prefer its API and DX in many ways. The switch comes down to two things: better vector map support and globe mode.
The day/night terminator overlay now shows multiple twilight zones (civil, nautical, astronomical, and night). MapLibre mode only. Needs some optimization for smooth animations, but it looks great in globe mode.
Do you export images from ORBAT Mapper? There is now a new image export tool available with more bells and whistles: a viewfinder, custom output scale, preview and annotations!
@ThomasHalwax The UI is mostly for testing the library API I'm working on. I should probably make SVGs of the previews if I integrate this into a user facing tool
