@OreboundImages I actually had a step-leader outside my car today. Freaked the cr@p out of me. Luckily the main bolt connected with another one further down the road. Never seen that with my own eyes before!
Check out this incredible lightning shot from #Brisbane on Sunday, Oct 26. ⚡️ This is likely a positive lightning strike - a rare type of #lightning that originates from the top section of a thunderstorm cloud and extends to the ground.

Sunset in idyllic Treasure Beach #Jamaica. The ocean is starting to get aggressive, surrounding the pier and slamming into the seawall. This location may get the full force of #Hurricane#MELISSA.
#hurricane#Melissa is cranking now, bombing out just like it was forecast to. It’s crawling west slowly - hopefully that core convection stays small in diameter and offshore over next day or two
Landed in Montego Bay before 12 noon, then drove for many hours to Mandeville, where I'm now setup in a big, sturdy hotel with a restaurant & generator. This is not my chase location, which will be down on the coast; this is my *staging* location—my headquarters. I picked this town because it's a little inland & central—& that's key, because it's not yet clear exactly where #Hurricane #MELISSA is going. From this spot, I can access many coastal locations.
But it’s not just about penetrating the hurricane’s core. Establishing a solid homebase—& human relationships around it—is important on extreme island expeditions like these, because they’re often extended stays. The hard truth is, if MELISSA hits at the forecast intensity, I’m gonna be here a while.
