I wrote a blog post detailing the writing approach I took while working on my recent paper: https://t.co/0aUhDLOnYD
I describe the behind the scenes for how this paper came to be, why and how I storyboarded figures before running experiments, and some figure design tips! :)
Fork-and-Flush: help your agents escape Idea Basins!!
I love thinking of AutoResearch as Idea Descent: a metric of interest goes down, as a function of ideas/experiments, where the agents get pulled towards one idea or another. But we've seen very often an agent develop this weird tunnel vision, and honing in just one type of "idea", kinda like GD stuck in a local minimum.
We studied this and seems we can fix it with Fork-and-Flush, a super simple and kinda cute idea. Every so often, fork the agent into T copies in the same workspace but empty the context, let them run for a bit, and continue from the best one.
If you like the GD analogy, it's basically basin hopping https://t.co/NOzpRGT3It.
BTW we found a silly way of also plotting "idea basins": an LLM rewrites every experiment as a spec and answers a few thousand binary queries "is Experiment A closer to B or to C?". Then we embed this NXN matrix into 2D and indeed see in many cases that each run saturates into a small region and keeps polishing it.
We call these idea basins!
At equal compute Fork and Flush beats single runs and best-of-N on 12/13 long-horizon tasks (some 4+ days), and in my own research projects it's been working really well!
BTW we only use it at test time, but it could also be part of training or RL.

New blog: How to Build a Scientific Scaling Ladder.
I've spent the past three months studying pretraining and scaling. This guide brings together public research on using small runs to predict large-model training configurations and performance.

Google Playground'.

What if LLMs could think in weights, not tokens?
Introducing HyperThink (#COLM2026, co-led with @kdgyun425): a hypernetwork writes a per-question weight update to the LLM for it to skip the long thinking trace, a step toward accurate System 1 thinking! 🧵👇

THIS IS F**KING DANGEROUS.
I JUST FOUND A WAY TO TURN CLAUDE INTO AN AUTONOMOUS PENTESTER.
HEXSTRIKE AI connects an LLM to 150+ cybersecurity tools through MCP and lets AI agents actually use them.
→ 12 specialized agents
→ 150+ security tools
→ Web + network security testing
→ Automated pentesting workflows
→ Local execution on Kali Linux
And this is where it gets crazy.
Claude can analyze a target, choose the right tool, generate the payload, run the test, and reason through the result.
It even demonstrated solving a PortSwigger SQL injection lab autonomously.
This is no longer just AI explaining cybersecurity.
AI IS STARTING TO ACTUALLY DO THE WORK.
REPO BELOW
An RL setup for training decision models that return calibrated probabilities instead of text.
The input is encoded once, every option runs as its own branch, and a single scorer turns each branch into a probability.
During training, real outcomes are sampled from each item's label, and the model is rewarded on two things: the probability it gave to what actually happened, and whether its confidence in its own decision was honest.
Both are proper scoring rules, so the only way to get the best reward is to report the true probabilities.
