The 2026 #VolunteerYear is off to a strong start.
In #Madagascar, it started with climate action🌱
Government, communities & @UNVolunteers came together to plant over 5,000 trees to respond to environmental issues facing the country.

The world is ageing.
It’s time to recognize the power of volunteering later in life.
Research by UNV and @ILO shows how older volunteers shape our world and why their role is so vital in ageing societies 👇🏽 @ILO_EMP_Policy https://t.co/3xX7LN1MJK
Every second, someone volunteers somewhere around the world.
But how do we value #volunteer efforts? The Global Index of Volunteer Engagement (GIVE) in the 2026 State of the World’s Volunteerism Report by @UNVolunteers provides a framework.

@therealantoh What really hurts isn’t the posting — it’s the silence from your own MPs. If they were delivering even half of that work, you’d have something to post too. Accountability doesn’t stop at constituency borders, and visibility isn’t a crime — inactivity is.
@amenya_nelson The only thing on overdrive here is the yelling. Logic doesn’t mean amnesia, and noise doesn’t equal substance. If shouting on timelines paid bills or fixed policy, you’d be fully employed by now. Maybe give yourself some work — Kenya needs thinking, not decibels.
@KoinangeJeff@citizentvkenya@HEBabuOwino@NdindiNyoro@monicakiragu_ tell Mr. President Hon. @Babu_Owino, His address to the nation on Citizen TV reflects conviction, clarity, and a deep sense of responsibility to the Kenyan people. Such leadership gives hope to the future of our country. Kenya needs leaders of your calibre. 🇰🇪
@amenya_nelson Funny how shouting the loudest on Twitter suddenly makes one think they’re a national authority. Same script, different day — running timelines, throwing insults, and mistaking noise for impact. Kenya’s problems won’t be solved by perpetual outrage merchants.
@HEBabuOwino Mr. President Hon. @Babu_Owino, your address to the nation on Citizen TV reflected conviction, clarity, and a deep sense of responsibility to the Kenyan people. Such leadership gives hope to the future of our country. Kenya needs leaders of your calibre. 🇰🇪
@realMaalouf A PhD doesn’t override a country’s laws, culture, or hiring realities. France didn’t reject her degree — it rejected the mismatch between expectations and the workplace. Rights aren’t the same thing as job guarantees.
