This is really shameful. If you wanted to appease the Chinese propagandists, you could have just made the game unavailable in China, instead of taking it away from the rest of us as well. I'm honestly having second thoughts about spending any money on GOG's winter sale this year.
Earlier today, it was announced that the game Devotion is coming to GOG. After receiving many messages from gamers, we have decided not to list the game in our store.
@killyourfm @ubuntu@AMD So basically I should keep on using my old GPU until it dies. I wanted to upgrade (to something like RX 6800 in fact), but I don't want to switch back to Windows after doing so. Linux has been working pretty well for me on my ancient hardware. Will the RX 6800 drivers get better?
@grandayy All this reveals is that "gamers" are not a hive mind. Each of these things applies to one of two largely distinct groups, PC gamers and console gamers. Even where these two groups do overlap, you will not find a single person who is simultaneously mad about both of these things.

This weekend, I finally got to try out @GOGcom Galaxy 2.0 (beta) and the latest version of @AppPlaynite. I've posted my first impressions of each and some comparisons on my blog. Playnite understandably has more features, but Galaxy is pretty nice so far.

@JimSterling But Jim, if you really think about it, the massive inconvenience to literally all of the paying customers is a small price to pay when it comes to ensuring that pirates can't steal the newest edition of this '90s game whose previous editions can be illegally downloaded with ease.
It looks like @GOGcom Galaxy is trying to put @AppPlaynite out of a job.
Personally, I like Playnite's interface, so I'll probably keep using it. But I wonder if every PC game store's client will end up offering to import users' games from their accounts on all the other stores.
We all have the same problem with our games and gaming buddies scattered in between multiple clients.
GOG GALAXY 2.0 will combine all your games into one library and connect with your friends across all gaming platforms!

I installed Ubuntu last night. After some initial difficulty with getting the Ubuntu installer to detect my existing Windows 7 partition (which, it turned out, was not using UEFI boot mode), it was pretty easy. Some aspects of Ubuntu bug me, though. I might just switch to Debian.
