Boris Johnson bluster today that by itself could power the nation. Not a single word about the role of #nuclear (the UK's largest source of clean energy by TWh) or how his claim will impact investment in HPC and Sizewell C. The press missed the point. https://t.co/MDCvr1V7XE
Hi! It's been yonks since I posted anything. But I saw this today and it made my week. #ExtinctionRebellion are a counterproductive force and their spokesperson renounced them and is now in favour of #nuclear power. 👏https://t.co/oqycVhBeas
@SteveAplin@DecarbonizeNOW@JesseJenkins I'm fine with residential solar with battery storage for demand side management and grid services (load and frequency control). It has a place in the grand scheme. Just need to treat it as what it is - auxiliary services to the grid, not a prime mover.
@kirstygogan It's pretty much why I'm moving away from energy Twitter and especially arguing with the anti-nuke RE die hards. It wasn't good for my mental health, banging my head against that wall. Turning 50, I figured it's not really my fight any more. The next generation can sort it out.
Pretty much had it with the climatistas at #COP25 dogmatically insisting on sticking to a strategy that is plainly failing. For those of us who care about solving #climate within meaningful timescales we must be rigorously evidence-based and intellectually honest.
@ProfBrianCox I go further and ban political parties and decide every policy as we go by Twitter polls...
Who's in favour of spending an extra £20bn next year on NHS services?
@6point626 Where is the "do no harm" argument on wind and solar backed up with natural gas (I might add, shipped by tanker across the world to EU because we don't want to frack our own)?
@nuclearkatie Reaching a sustained criticality is the aim but a prompt criticality is an accident that can have serious consequences for those involved.
#NuScalePower is formalizing its supply chain and taking a large step forward in our journey to bring the first #SMR online in just a few years’ time with our partners at Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction.
We can actually show people what nuclear waste looks like. We can provide hard numbers on volumes. We can point to reuse and recycle schemes as well as consent based siting. Hell, today's nuclear power sector is probably the poster child for sustainable waste management
@markcojuangco@GretaThunberg Dark Greens have a selective deafness when shouting, "Act / believe in the science" when the science says, "We need to use nuclear science to create the sheer amount of reliable low carbon enegy required. Wind and solar are not enough on their own due to fundamental physics". 😒
Teen eco-anxiety/depression rising
Climate change is real but there's NO SCIENCE for apocalyptic claims
No increase in floods
Sea level rise manageable
More food even at higher temps (>4°C)
Can we please stop lying to, scaring & manipulating kids?

@BillMorris9@joswinson I've no doubt that I cannot change your mind on nuclear power. But I am the one with the more open technical soluton mind that includes all low carbon energy sources as part of a *complete technically viable* solution.
@joswinson Where are the LDs on #nuclearpower? It produces 20% of all UK electricity and 50% of all low carbon electricity. EU and IPCC state it is a necessary part of a viable low carbon energy strategy. Lab & Con support new nuclear power plant builds. #ClimateDebate
We have two paths: our children inherit a poisoned planet. Or: our children breathe clean air, going green is the easier and cheaper option, and we protect our planet for future generations. #ClimateDebate
@BillMorris9@joswinson Uranium is functionally inexhaustible, given its abundance and energy density. The spent fuel from Gen 1-3 reactors is also not waste & is valuable fuel for later gen reactors. Wind & solar are only cheap when considered as opportunistic generation in a gas fossil fuel solution.
Nuclear heating! It is a thing! I've been saying this over and over again. And will keep doing so.
"Unit 1 of Russia's Leningrad II nuclear power plant has been integrated into the heat supply system of the city of Sosnovy Bor"

@BNW_Ben This is the toxic face of the Greens. Anarchists who don't care about the environment or even people. Just pushing some BS about de-growth, subsistence living and "tearing it all down".
#ClimateChange is one of the biggest environmental challenges affecting the 🌍 and the people. It’s #TimeForAction and it’s time to take full advantage of the benefits of nuclear power to tackle it. #COP25
