Great Western Railways services will transfer into public ownership from 13 December 2026.
This is another significant moment as the government continues to bring services back into public ownership and put passengers, not shareholders, at the heart of our railways.

The 10 state-of-the-art Class 897 trains will be the first new fleet introduced as part of GBR, and will join our existing Azuma trains in the coming years.

Finally caught up with one of the @EastMidRailway refurbished 158s. Between the comfortable Grammer seats and the elegant colour choices this must be one of the nicest train interiors in the country. A really classy job ππ.
As demand was so high, we operated a second train so more people could celebrate the fleet's 42 years of service on our suburban network.
As we continue to rollout our new Arterio fleet, the Class 455s will be withdrawn from the timetable at the end of the year. π₯²π

Tomorrow the new blue, red & white GBR livery & brand will be launched. The new design will be displayed on digital displays at a number of stations. The DfT says the livery will appear acrossΒ already publicly owned train operators from spring, with roll-out being gradual. π·DfT
99004 (left) and 99003 (right) are on their way to the UK. The @stadlerrail@GBRailfreight bi-mode locos are being shipped from Barcelona and should dock at Portbury this month. π· GBRf
Confirmed by @GWRHelp at @Modern_Railways Golden Whistles conference that the first Class 175 will enter traffic next month and all Castles will be stood down. However, the 175 project does have issues. More 2-car 150s will cover their duties.
Spent an hour at Allbrook junction outside of Eastleigh this morning due to pathway timings. This would normally take place at Wallers Ash, but the down loop has been out of action for a while.
