What I liked most about this course was how easy it was to review the material. There were many options: answering Peerwise questions, rewatching the lectures, reviewing the supp. res., etc. which let me cover the same topic without it getting stale. #prescottbiochemistry

An interesting fact about this protein is that it is being researched by many different corporations trying to market a biodegradable plastic enzyme! Evian will be using its own (i believe patented) enzyme to make bottles out of recycled plastics more easily!
The protein I am interested in is one of many PET hydrolase mutants created by the Ideonella Sakaiensis bacterium. This protein catalyzes the break down of hardy plastics into terephthalic acid and smaller plastic monomers! This mutant is "5XFY". #prescottbiochemistry
This particular mutant is expressed in an Aspergillus species and is 290 Amino Acids long. I got this information from https://t.co/3HVOsgoayX and also from https://t.co/hAOUM2b0q1 which is another great source for proteomics!
