Prof Hari Vasudevan tought us European & Russian History at Calcutta University many many years ago. Ran into him again at ORF Kolkata a few months back and chatted about foreign policy etc. Shocked to hear of his passing today. RIP.
At Surat station, bus loads of migrant workers being ferried to the platform to board trains home to Bihar. Each one speaks of how poorly the employer treated them. Across states its the same story. No wages, no work. Each one says to me: "We will never return"
