We've been working hard gathering evidence on cancer related travel costs encountered by children, young people, & their families. Later today @YLvsCancer will launch the research report at the UK parliament. Please support the #RunningOnEmpty campaign https://t.co/iVjsyjrp3j
The #EmploymentBill will make statutory sick pay more accessible by removing the waiting period and lower earnings threshold—good news for young cancer patients needing quick support. But without a rate increase, it still falls short. We can do better.
Mphango shared her experience of being put on sick pay during treatment with @gmb this morning. She hopes today's #EmploymentBill helps other young people get better financial support when facing a cancer diagnosis 👇
Are you a young person who had a stem cell transplant as a child or a family member of someone who did? If so, please spare 10 minutes to fill out a short survey from @MCRI_for_kids to help others in the future 👉https://t.co/ISy9qsPheu Closes on 31 October.
‘Can I afford to get to cancer treatment?’ Is a question nobody should have to ask.
A year ago, we launched our travel costs campaign #RunningOnEmpty but children and young people with cancer, and their families, are still struggling with the costs of getting to treatment.
Do you know the symptoms of endometriosis?
By sharing this post, you may help us to reach someone who doesn't 💛
While symptoms listed are considered the most common or ‘classic’, other symptoms have been reported and everyone’s experience is different.

Revealing new research in @personneltoday
3 in 5 people go to work whilst sick despite needing time off. 🤒
Some will have no choice, due to the financial hardship caused by no or very low #sickpay.
This is why we need #SafeSickPay for all workers.

@Prog_Change@crspMatt This is a brilliant and super important campaign! @Prog_Change please can you check that your 'Write to your MP' form is working correctly. Atm 'Submit' is not submitting.
@LaurenElsie23 Can relate. I recently received a call from gynaecology saying 'we're very sorry for your 771 day wait'. Actually felt really bad for the administrator having to make that call.
Children with cancer need support that’s right for them. Join me and ask your MP to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September. Send them an email now! #CCAM https://t.co/sYdf9mLd9e
This summer, many children and young people are travelling to hospital for cancer treatment.
82% of families cut down on activities due to travel costs, leaving them without a much-needed break from the stress of treatment.

“It's between £450-500 I have to pay when I go for treatment and then the time off work. It all adds up.”
Ben has to travel from Essex to London every few months for cancer treatment. He and his mum have to travel every day for a week.

📰Read: Travel costs for young cancer patients and their families can run up to £250 or more per month. That’s a lot of money, even when there isn’t a cost-of-living crisis. I’m backing calls to tackle this unfairness.
