Senior Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute. Former Ass. Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park
@elonmusk my @Tesla model 3 burned down b a piece of metal uncleaned by @CitySanLeandro, sliced the battery. I got no warnings and escaped after a passerby told me. @TeslaInsurance tells me that it was my fault, and that I should contact the manufacturer. What do I do?
I was driving back home at low speed and almost die, and now I need to pay for deductibles? @Tesla should do something here beyond ridiculous insurance formalities.
Thanks @ToyotaResearch for supporting me to be at
#CHI2024 to present my former multidisciplinary work in collaboration with multiple departments @Stanford@USC@umdcs@UDelaware and colleagues across various other universities: https://t.co/UfjEGWvCVB
Proud to see my former postdoc @XinTong1111 present our #CHI2023 paper "Just Do Something: comparing Self-Proposed with AI-recommended stress interventions...", showing efficacy for both cases. Great collaboration with colleagues from @umdcs@StanfordMed@UDelaware & @DukeKunshan
This work is based on our Chrome Plugin tool Home Sweet Office https://t.co/RHvqM0U7dP - we are happy to explore new questions about stress, productivity or behavioral change in general.
Proud to see my former postdoc @XinTong1111 present our #CHI2023 paper "Just-Do-Something" https://t.co/HKX8GCf6Z2 comparing Self-Proposed with AI-recommended stress interventions, showing efficacy from both! Great collaboration with @umdcs@StanfordMed@UDelaware & @DukeKunshan
@dh7net UX x "anything" should never be a last minute design choice. An engineering-obsessed culture thinks UX comes later. FYI - the field of research is called Human-Computer Interaction. AI and HCI come from the same origin. Attend @acm_chi at Hamburg, learn, and inform others.
Super proud to witness my mother receiving a just recognition for her pioneer academic career as the creator of the Gender Studies major at @JurisUCUENCA https://t.co/hBCEzbKIVj
Excited to be participating tomorrow in an interesting panel about Biometrics Regulation organized by the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology... You can register and attend here: https://t.co/j8x3dRmREm
Excited to have received news that our paper comparing self-proposed & machine-recommended stress interventions w/ online workers (via our Home Sweet Office plugin) was accepted to #CHI2023. It's been great working w/ @XinTong1111, @pabloeparedes, and others on this #HCI project.
Turns out people have good ideas to manage their own stress at work... machines can further support if needed. Proud to have our paper contrasting self-proposed and AI-recommended interventions accepted to #CHI2023. Congrats to my former postdocs @XinTong1111, @mattm401, et al.
@ylecun The scientific process must end with a rigorous publication, because that is how you guarantee rigorous scientific work. Following the scientific process w/o publishing should have a different name. Perhaps "empirical engineering", or something else, but not science.
Happy to share my latest TEDx talk in Discomfort by Design: https://t.co/UEchY8HajY
In a world where technology is built mostly to alleviate discomfort, maybe what we need is to embrace discomfort as a design feature to help us grow and develop resilience.
