@mamaZoeCherotch@Phe800@athiiing The article doesn’t mention mental health as the issue and the critique is aboutthe media framing, which is bad for the sport. I agree with @stevemagness AND @Nikki_Hiltz here (and you as well, of course!) 1/2
This is the first time since 2006 that no portion of the USATF Champs will be shown live on NBC.
USATF could typically rely on a 2-hour window on Sat and another 1-2 hours on Sun. Instead, NBC will show US Women's Open Golf & America's Got Talent.
@stevemagness This is a real cultural shift from the 90s where people wanted to do very little. There were things like thigh masters, and my favorite the thing you’d affix to your belly while you’d sit at work and it would massage the fat off. The interest in getting fit just wasn’t the same.
What do professional trail and ultrarunners earn?
Almost none of the data I collected from nearly 200 pros in the sport came as a surprise, but we are finally reaching a point of more transparency.
There's still lots of work to do, but this is a start.

@phittisit @botpsubstack @runcandice Many runners are thin, which is the result of running a lot, not a body type best suited to running. Cameron Levins is bulky and he’s the Canadian record holder for the marathon.
@runcandice@davidkATL It’s never just one thing but it’s unfair to dismiss one person’s experience because it doesn’t align with your own. I have had many running injuries that have kept me from competing for years. I sit for long periods for work but the running was not an insignificance factor.
@stevemagness Can you point to a study that shows this? I feel like I’ve read a lot of coaches talk about the stickiness of negativity as a survival mechanism. I assume there’s a distinction between the types of studies but I wouldn’t know what it is.
Hey @usatf wya?
I won an individual IAAF bronze medal yesterday at the World Championships and the women’s team secured a team bronze today in the 40k 👀
We haven’t heard anything from you yet!
According to research, resilient individuals adopt a few key characteristics that we can all learn from:

2. Seeing Meaning in Adversity
3. Proactive, Instead of Reactive
4. Strong and Diverse Social Network
5. The Ability to Let Go
Running is just a chapter in the book of your life, its a job that can be moved on from, I know that it feels like it’s everything, please fellow athletes if you’re struggling get help, there’s so much more to life that’s not running, most of the world aren’t runners & they’re ok
