There are many IAS officers, senior officials, and politicians from DMK, AIADMK, and BJP invested in land around Parandur and Pannur. Three major real estate companies also bought large amounts of land, and their money is now locked there. Particularly the single letter real estate firm.

This comes under the Prevention of Corruption Act, which carries a punishment of 3 to 7 years in prison.

Immediately after assuming office, those with close access to the corridors of power in the DMK were informed that Parandur had been chosen as the site for Tamil Nadu’s second airport. This triggered a massive real estate boom in and around the proposed airport site, with thousands of crores flowing into land purchases. Land prices skyrocketed—from around ₹20 lakh per acre to nearly ₹4 crore within a year.

DMK ministers, IAS officers, and influential real estate players invested substantial amounts, including unaccounted wealth, in anticipation of the project’s appreciation. As the people of Ekanapuram began protesting against the airport, the village was effectively turned into a fortress. Police manned every entry point, preventing the agitation from receiving wider public attention.

When I visited Ekanapuram in 2023, I was met with police barricades. Despite there being no prohibitory orders in force, gatherings of more than four people were not permitted inside the village. A criminal case was even registered against me simply for entering the village.

The villagers stood virtually alone in their struggle. No major political party, including the then principal opposition AIADMK, extended meaningful support to them.

Today, the speculative real estate bubble around Parandur has burst, and land prices have fallen sharply. Those who invested heavily in anticipation of the airport have suffered significant losses. Without the airport project moving forward, it is unlikely that property values will return to those inflated levels.

Whatever one’s views on the broader development debate, there is a certain irony in seeing those who sought to profit from insider access and speculative investments bear the consequences of their own gamble.

Recently traveled from Bengaluru to Tiruvannamalai by a TN government bus. A 4–5 hour journey took 8 hours due to repeated gearbox and clutch issue. The driver said complaints go unheard.

Officials privately admitted that some parts shown as replaced in records may not have been changed at all. If true, this deserves a proper inquiry. @CMOTamilnadu

Yes. Several contractors told me this earlier and I had flagged this in my shows. Unwanted projects were conceived and executed only for this humongous commission. This is directly related to the huge debt piled up by the state.

To cover this up, they had the media, entire state machinery and the police to silence those who spoke about it.

Drip irrigation is the future of farming. On our 5 acre banana and guava farm, pump runtime reduced from 2–3 days to just 4 hours. Water and electricity consumption dropped by nearly 80–90%.

The biggest challenge is not installation, but maintenance. Regular cleaning, checking blockages, and proper handling can make the system last for years.

Drip irrigation saves water, reduces free power consumption, cuts labor costs, and helps farmers shift to high value crops. Governments should focus not only on subsidies but also on farmer training and maintenance support.

I have implemented it myself and seen the results.

Our rural school Kalaivani Kalvi Maiyam, which provides completely free education to rural children, faced delays getting approvals from the previous government. Of course, significant money was demanded and we were told that was the only way, even if it is a completely free school.

ஒருவரின் அரசியல் செயல்பாடு மக்களை உண்மையாகக் கவர்ந்திருந்தால், அந்த வேகம் தற்காலிக குழப்பங்கள் மற்றும் ஒரு��ிலரின் மடைமாற்றத்தை தாண்டி நீடிக்கும். தனிப்பட்ட பேச்சுகளும் வதந்திகளும் சமூக ஊடகத்தில் ஒன்றிரண்டு நாட்கள் ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்தலாம். ஆனால் நீண்டகால அரசியல் வளர்ச்சி, அவர்களின் தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வை, செயல்பாடு மற்றும் மக்கள் நம்பிக்கையை பொறுத்து மட்டுமே.

வரலாறு காட்டுவது என்னவென்றால், தனிப்பட்ட கிசுகிசு கதைகள் ஒவ்வொரு முக்கியமான அரசியல் சூழலிலும் மக்களின் கவனத்தைத் திசை திருப்பவே பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. ஆனால் அதே சமயம் ஆதாரம் இல்லாமல் தனிநபர்கள் மீது நோக்கங்களைக் கற்பிப்பது நியாயமற்றது.

ஒரு விஷயத்தை எல்லோரும் புரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும்… இங்கு யாரும் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் ஆகவோ, ஜெயலலிதாகவோ இனி மாற முடியாது. ஒவ்வொரு அரசியல் காலமும் வேறுபட்டது.

இன்றைய தலைவர்கள், சினிமா பிரபலங்கள் கடந்தகாலத்தைப் போல நகலெடுக்காமல் தங்கள் சொந்த அடையாள��்தை உருவாக்குவதுதான் சிறப்பாக இருக்கும்.

#ADMK needs to bounce back with proper leadership change and work genuinely for the upliftment of tamilnadu.

The new and fresh @TVKVijayHQ government needs to be contested and there should be checks and balances. Based on the last two days events, there is no way DMK will do this under Udhay.

All the corruption should be dealt strictly and corrupt people and officials should face consequences.

அதை விடுத்து, முதல்வர் பேசும்போதே, பண்பில்லாத கும்பல் போல கூச்சலிடுவதும், கத்துவதும் 75 ஆண்டு வரலாறு உள்ள ஒரு கட்சிக்கு அழகா ? ஆனால் இதுதான் இவர்களது அசல் குணம்.

எடப்பாடி பழனிச்சாமி முதல்வரானதை பொறுத்துக்கொள்ள முடியாமல் ஸ்டாலின் ச���்டையை கிழித்துக் கொண்டு கோமாளித்தனம் செய்தது போல உதயநிதி நடந்து கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்.

��ேரலை காரணமாக இவர்களின் நடத்தையெல்லாம் அம்பலமாகி கொண்டே இருக்கிறது. முற்று முழுவதுமாக மக்கள் விரைவில் இவர்களை நிராகரிப்பார்கள். திமுகவின் அழிவு தமிழகத்துக்கு நல்லது. அதை உதயநிதி விரைவில் செய்து முடிப்பார்.
