¡Vaso de la locura de Heracles! 🏺
Esta crátera realizada en Paestum en el siglo IV a.C. muestra a Heracles impulsado a la destrucción de su hijo por los espíritus de la locura, ante la mirada de su esposa Mégara.
#FrescoFriday meets #TerracottaTuesday
Spotted in BM last week: red-figured C4 BC water jar w 2 warriors fighting over body of 3rd from Campania...
...quite like C4 BC tomb painted in situ below ground w 2 bloody warriors, in Paestum last year.
Love it when stuff comes together.
#FrescoFriday
Such a delicate and animated deer hunt, painted in situ below ground on plastered stone slab of Lucanian tomb 370-360 BC.
One of the remarkable frescos from Andriuolo Necropolis north of Magna Graecia city of Poseidonia, later Roman Paestum.
In Paestum museum.
Thursday’s #ImageOfTheDay.
The second Temple of Hera (possibly Poseidon too) at the Greek colonial city of #Paestum in Campania south of Naples. It dates from c450BCE. The three Greek temples here are among the best preserved in the world.
#FrescoFriday brings us right into a small chamber tomb in the #Spinazzo#necropolis of #Paestum, where apparently you *can* take it with you. Horses, ladies, young men in short shorts. And plenty of #crowns of #victory. Every satisfaction awaited the noble dead of #MagnaGraecia.
