and, i see instances of medical professionals—incl., those who are non-white—caricaturizing and/or being racist toward black & poor patients & i’m like… these are medical professionals we are supposed to trust to be a remedy to structural racism in the medical industry? lol ok!
i just remember “black men don’t go to the doctor” discourse being met with individualistic personal responsibility anecdotes. and, calls for black men to seek out black medical professionals as a response to antiblackness in the medical industry…
just noticing a trend. and, want us to move away from modernized & rebranded “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” responses when discussing structural racial violence as experienced by ALL black (namely poor) people—especially from those of us who call ourselves radicals. simple.
I can tell you from experience — the people most scared of "bad neighborhoods" in New York City are suburbanites who only know about those nabes from the news.
They inhale Eyewitness News and then regurgitate it.
