My country #Estonia tops EU countries in discarded #COVID19 vaccines per capita. Sad stats as we still remember the times when rich countries cornered the market and bought up vaccine supply leaving poorer countries empty handed. https://t.co/Q0y927QGiL

After an initial strong response to the pandemic, health spending is for many governments no longer a priority – putting at risk global health security and progress toward the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). https://t.co/snxxnvDpAm via @worldbank
Climate change and health being discussed at #WHA76. @WBG_Health director Juan Pablo Uribe says that @WorldBank will be significantly stepping up financing to mitigate and adapt to the impacts, including in health. Thanks hi to @FCDOGovUK for hosting the event.
@MoritzPiatti@EricaGerretsen@EU_Partnerships@EU_Commission We need to turn to the head the paradigm where governments are asked to co-finance ODA funded projects for the sake of financial sustainability, and instead ask ODA to co-finance government programs through government systems, budget support or else.
An interesting pattern: ODA on health is outspending education 👇 But a fragmented and vertical aid architecture makes system reform difficult.
What's more, governments deprioritize as DAH is highly fungible (Lu et al, 2010)

This chart is symptomatic of a fundamental problem in health financing. As long as we’re so focused on disease specific financing, we undermine countries’ ability to prepare for the challenges of today. @IHME_UW#climate#preparedness#PHC
@kchalkidou Very much agree. #HTA should be the basis for building essential services packages for #UHC. HTA should apply to any health technology, including those put forward by silo programs that often escape mainstream health systems approaches.
Regularly consuming sugar-sweetened beverages has been linked to obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and tooth decay.
But taxes on these drinks can discourage their consumption by raising their prices relative to healthier alternatives.

We should not make preparedness a siloed vertical program, indeed. It should be very much integrated into everyday operations of human and animal health systems, disaster risk management, social protection and other relevant sectors and systems. https://t.co/3tnyLvG6bN
