Remembrance
Detonating artillery shells falling on Dunkirk echoed in the distance. It was late May, 1940, my father was only eleven years old. He was in a small restaurant with my grandfather, the two of them perplexed by the French soldier sitting next to them having a feast. The soldier's meal was lavish, far in excess of what virtually all Europeans were used to in those days of rationing.
My grandfather struck up conversation with the soldier. "Excuse me, but you are using up all your ration coupons on this one meal. What will you eat later if you spend them all like this?
The soldier smiled forlornly and explained, "Tomorrow the Germans will attack."
He would have no further use for his coupons. He had no intention of retreat. This was his last supper.
For that soldier who died protecting my father and all the rest of us. For all the others I could never begin to name or even know of. For all those who stand the wall. Thank you.
@awkwardgoogle I see SO many posts in my feed of black people doing messed up shit, and finally I see a post where a black guy wins the day by being cool and competent. Wish I saw that more often.
@taylorplusyou I surf the web, watch TV/movies, read, play games... Plenty of ways to entertain myself. Been doing it for 17 years alone, and I am perfectly content. Sadly, not doing much to repopulate, but I'm over the hill anyway.
Just last week, for four days in a row, all I ate was cooked rice. Nothing else but a bit of salt. I ate my fill. I found it in myself to enjoy it.
Next payday, get yourself a 25-pound bag of rice and a pound of salt. You'll never need to go hungry. For real healthy living, pair it up with a similar bag of beans. If you want some luxury, pick up a huge bag of onions and some cooking oil, maybe some seasoning. Cook up a big pot of rice and beans, then fry up some onion and add it to the rice and beans when they are done. You could live off of that for years!

It is not make or break, but it is a factor. Probably accounts for a full point on the ten-point attractiveness scale. There are certainly men who will profess otherwise, and a few might even be being honest about their true feelings. But I've seen average-looking, huge-breasted women get away with virtual murder, for that one reason.
@GoodD321@femalebodybuil6 Elon Musk has personally paid more taxes than any human being ever in history. How much more must he pay before he has paid his "fair share" according to you?
@TrpstrLeonOG Employers do not set wages any more than they do prices. Neither do workers. Wages and prices, including rent, are set by the market, by supply and demand. Failure to understand such basic fundamentals leads to grave error, such as the OP's opinion.
