A cartoon being circulated on X says Indians should thank the British because James Prinsep deciphered the Brahmi script & helped recover our history. :))

Do you know before he became a so-called expert on our ancient scripts, Prinsep’s primary day job was serving as the Assay Master (chief metallurgist & currency controller) at the Banaras & Calcutta Mints. He was not an academic; he was an economic agent sent to fundamentally alter India's wealth distribution system.

Until the 1830s, India had a beautifully diverse, highly resilient decentralized currency system. Local kingdoms, merchant guilds & regional mints issued their own silver and gold coins. Local money-changers (Shroffs) evaluated coins based on pure metal weight. James Prinsep was the literal architect who destroyed this system.

Using his position as Assay Master, Prinsep spent yrs systematically studying the purity of native Indian coins. He did not do this out of cultural curiosity, he did it to calculate how the East India Company could completely monopolize India's money supply.

His efforts directly culminated in the Coinage Act of 1835: The Elimination of Indian Heritage: Prinsep spearheaded the policy that completely banned all local Indian regional coins & traditional designs. He personally oversaw the design of the new, uniform colonial Silver Rupee. He forced the removal of traditional Indian symbols, replacing them with the cold, imperial face of British King William IV.

What makes this a financial "thug" operation is how the transition was enforced on ordinary Indians. By passing laws that declared traditional regional currencies invalid for tax payments, the British forced Indian merchants, farmers & citizens to bring their centuries-old ancestral coins to Prinsep's mints. Under Prinsep's direct technical supervision, the British mints engaged in massive institutional exploitation:

- They took the pure, high-quality silver coins of Indian states.
- They melted them down in giant cauldrons.
- They charged the native Indians a heavy seigniorage (a minting fee/tax) just to exchange their own ancestral silver for the new British currency.

This artificial bottleneck triggered a massive shortage of circulating cash in rural India, causing local economies to crash while systematically vacuuming pure silver out of Indian hands & placing it directly under East India Company control. It was 1 of the largest state-sanctioned currency manipulation schemes in world history.

But what is often sold to us is the idea that Prinsep was a polymath who single-handedly deciphered our ancient scripts. Ask the same people who Rathnapala was & you are likely to be met with complete silence. :(

Today, good to see many waking up to Wikipedia being biased and run by the DS. It's trending on X.

Two years ago, not many believed me when I said the below. But I have another story to tell from long back when X was Twitter.

They took down a post of mine for detailing why Wikipedia is rigged. It was my own personal experience.

It showed me that the same cabal was running Twitter and editing Wikipedia.

Why are there so many self- proclaimed genius- ignoramuses commenting so confidently on IVC and Yoga and Hinduism when they have zero knowledge about it?

Numerous other seals and tablets besides the Pashupati seal showing Indian men and women in similar Yogic postures were found at IVC sites. These are not mere cross legged poses. Several of them also show animals. They were analyzed in detail by scholars like Parpola, Thomas McEvilley, etc.

At least have the brains to do minimum research before making such dumb claims.

What kind of expert does not even know that more than 65% of all IVC sites are situated in post Partition India?

The approximate numbers are:
India: ~925 sites
Pakistan: ~475 sites
Afghanistan: 1-4 sites

More importantly it is India’s Haryana which has both the largest site (Rakhigarhi) & the oldest site (Bhirrana, 8000-7570 BCE).

Rakhigarhi is by far the biggest IVC site that has been excavated covering an area of 350 hectares which is a far bigger city than Mohenjo-daro (300 hectares). Rakhigarhi was a manufacturing hub - archaeologists excavated 9+ massive mounds which made up the core residential areas & massive industrial zones filled with circular brick furnaces where gold, copper, and carnelian were mass produced and used to make jewelry.

Moreover Rakhigarhi shows continuous habitation through all 3 major periods of Early, Mature, and Late Harappan phases (5500 BCE to 1900 BCE)

Even though Rakhigarhi is recognized as the largest IVC site (~350 hectares), more than half of it still remains buried! It has not been fully excavated yet because two heavily populated villages of Rakhi-Khas and Rakhi-Shahpur are sitting directly on top of the ancient city mounds. GPR surveys have shown that if the remaining area is excavated then Rakhigarhi's true size would officially expand to a whopping 550+ hectares, making it almost double the size of Mohenjo-daro.

So how can an authoritative academic scholar make such a false and ridiculous claim that Pakistan has the biggest IVC cities?

Yet another very promising and under-excavated site in India is at Lakmirwala, Punjab where prelim surveys and trial trenches show the city spanned an estimated 225 hectares. Once it is fully excavated, Lakmirwala would definitely surpass Harappa (~150 hectares) and Dholavira (~120 hectares) to become the second-largest IVC site in India and the fourth-largest overall.

It’s the same story with Dhalewan (Punjab) which is estimated to span ~150 hectares - as big as Harappa. So far only minor parts of the mound have been surveyed, so potentially there is a massive, structurally complex city sitting unexcavated below the earth. Not to mention there are just as many promising sites awaiting excavation in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

One would expect the self-proclaimed Grand Poobah of “South Asian History” to know this much at least.

So much for the great IVC expert - Miss Fraudery.

I cannot tell you how many messages I received about the Pashupati seal and some western historian denying it by bringing out a comparison with a totally unrelated Elamite seal even though there are stark differences between the two seals.
The Elamite seal is completely different from Pashupati/Proto-Shiva seal. They are not the same. Not even 1% of similarity exists between them to merit comparison.
The Pashupati seal from Sindhu-Saraswati civilization (previously known as Indus Valley civilization) depicts Shiva sitting in Mulabandhasana, which only accomplished yogis perform (representing calm/conscious of the world) surrounded by animals indigenous to India (tiger, elephant, rhinoceros). It scares the folks peddling false constructions of Indian history. Whether they realize it or not Indian history is no longer based on their constructs. Truth is emerging: #ColonizedMinds should bow to truth and accept fact-based history.
Elamite seal is a depiction of an anthropomorphic bull sitting in vajrasana.
Depiction of a divinity wearing horned crown is much different from the depiction of anthropomorphic bull. Somebody’s eyes must be checked for making this false assumption. There is huge difference here between representation of a divinity wearing horned crown and a bull (vaguely anthropomorphic) here. It could be Shiva’s bull but not Shiva/Pashupati if at all comparisons could be made, which is out of context here. And what about all the animals? A seal doesn’t depict “lord of animals” while depicting only an animal and not surrounded by animals.

The Pashupati seal has an elephant, a water buffalo and a rhinoceros. Ancient Elam was centred in southwestern Iran. Elephants, water buffalos and rhinoceroses are not native to ancient Elam. BTW, they are native to India. Also, the figure is seated in a Yogic posture. Is Yoga also Elamite now? Seriously?
