My painting got featured at the 'Student Art Spotlight' by the Moss Arts Center @ArtscenteratVT
This was the first time ever that I publicly shared my art.
Feels good to be recognized. 😋
We received outstanding participation and engagement during our recent codeathon to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR), co-hosted by @NIAIDNews! We had 60 participants that formed 10 teams with 10 countries represented. Learn more about their work: https://t.co/zlGe2cSbg8
SOSP attendees, @suyash_sg is looking for an academic job this year, and Levy Deng, Timothée Zerbib for PhD positions (all attending). Hire them! You won't regret it. Though Suyash might force you to write scripts in shell ;-).
So @nanopore discovered something a few days ago - and it has to do with light. And they posted this image (sorry, too good not to share off the community). Yes, that’s 469% increased output. So, we decided to give it a shot and …
@zrcjessica Finally someone said it! I've been in the same boat and worst part is, I don't think my international status allows me to get any part-time gigs 😔
It's brutal out there!
@TLowePower I absolutely know that. Writing is hard and it's not the same for everyone.
I mean it sometimes takes me 1hr to fully form just one good sentence.
I was just piling on to the absurdity. :P
16hrs to write a whole grant?!
If this is real then Universities should have 24hr long "Grantathons" for new profs so they can collaborate with such experienced profs and submit full grants together.
How long does it take to write a grant? R01s are 13 pages of science: 3-4 are bespoke (say, 6-8 hours); the rest are aims that can be repurposed from content intended for a manuscript (another 6-8 hours). So ~16 hours dedicated time per grant.
@phylogenomics cfsan-snp-pipeline for SNP analysis, PROKKA/BAKTA + PIRATE/roary + iqtree for phylogenetic analysis and ClonalFrame + gubbins for recombination
What if you could image 🔬cells and then choose which ones to sequence 🧬?
What if you could go back and image 🔬cells that you previously sequenced 🧬?
Now you can 🔬 then 🧬 then 🔬 cells again with Light-Seq!
