I received notice that I would be promoted with tenure months ago, but it’s technically not official until 7-1-23. However, I’m not waiting until tomorrow for this.
On July 1, 2023, my tenure and promotion @ucdavis@ucdavisvetmed are official! #tenure#promotion#DevBio 🎉💪🏽❤️
Recalling, for no particular reason, when the Supreme Court turned away a group of environmentalists and border communities that couldn’t challenge Donald Trump’s border wall — a sweeping and unprecedented diversion of billions of dollars for a purpose Congress didn’t authorize.
Overall we are able to perform large scale comparisons using a fraction of Sourmash ressource (that is already pretty efficient) for the same amount of indexed kmers.
And since we pack our superkmers in buckets associated to a given minimizer, we can also optimize the comparisons of dissimilar sketches and globally ensure cache coherency
Really nice work by @DavidKoslicki and @saltyscientist et al.: "Deriving confidence intervals for mutation rates across a wide range of evolutionary distances using FracMinHash " https://t.co/odSgd0WwkY - k-mers <=> sketching <=> ANI #bioinformatics
@taylorpriest2 @AdriAuladell actually: a clumsy trick that sometimes has led to enlightenment:
instead of struggling with checkpoints, write two snakefiles, with one that runs after the first one is complete.
I've found once I get that code working, I can sometimes get checkpoints working more easily.
