we are committed to amplifying marginalized voices by creating inclusive spaces and dismantling systemic barriers to achieve equity and freedom for all.
The Constitution of Kenya guarantees every person the right to the highest attainable standard of health. Realising this right requires more than progressive laws. It demands informed citizens, accountable institutions, and meaningful public participation.
ICJ Kenya convened a Capacity Building Workshop on Policy Advocacy and CSO Participation in Health Governance in Nairobi, bringing together civil society organisations, community advocates, legal practitioners, and health rights defenders to strengthen their capacity to engage in health policy and governance processes at both the national and county levels.
"There is a need to ensure that CSOs and other groups are actively engaged in health governance." Bilasio Wandera, Coordinator, Kariobangi Paralegal Network.
The workshop equipped participants with practical knowledge and skills on Kenya's evolving health governance framework, including the Social Health Insurance Act, the Primary Health Care Act, the Digital Health Act, and the Facility Improvement Financing Act. Participants examined health financing and budgeting processes, as well as evidence-based advocacy approaches, to promote health reforms that are transparent, accountable, equitable, and responsive to the needs of all Kenyans.
Civil society plays a critical role in amplifying community voices, promoting accountability, and ensuring that the right to health is realised in practice. By strengthening the advocacy capacity of CSOs, this workshop sought to contribute to a more inclusive, people-centred, and rights-based healthcare system where no one is left behind.
ICJ Kenya remains committed to advancing the right to health through constitutionalism, accountable governance, and meaningful citizen participation.

Growing fresh food starts right at home!
There’s nothing quite like tending to your own kitchen garden—nurturing the soil, watering the fresh sprouts, and taking food sovereignty into our own hands.

Article 43 ensures young voices shape solutions, promote information integrity, and build knowledgeable citizenry against harmful online content .
Digital Citizenship
@YouthinGovernance #zke#thegenzagenda@Badili_A
Article 43 imposes a duty on the State, but also a moral duty on citizens. How can youth-led digital citizenship ensure conversations on hunger remain factual, humane, and focused on accountability rather than outrage?

As youths, we learn to research and scrutinize information before spreading it, calling out those misinforming citizens and beating them with the truth.
In Nairobi,water queues stretch longer than hope, Article 43 guarantees the highest attainable standard of water and sanitation but how do we make it real? Share how scarcity hits your daily life.

Climate Debt Obligations
Every shilling poured into fossil fuels deepens inequality taking resources away from healthcare, education, and sustainable livelihoods. Climate Debt Obligations must prioritise agroecology and community-led solutions, not fund another cycle of crisis.
#COPtoCommunities
Africa is disproportionately affected by climate change while contributing the least to global emissions. These impacts worsen poverty, health, food security and destabilize economies.

One of the outcomes of COP30 is the operationalization and replenishment cycles confirmed for the Loss and Damage Fund.

@Environment_Ke
Climate injustice deepens economic injustice. Families face impossible choices btw feeding their children, paying school fees & rebuilding their lives after climate disasters they did not create. Justice means honouring Climate Debt Obligations without delay.
