Remember the guy who wouldn't take the flag pole down on his Virginia property awhile back? You might remember the news story several months ago about a crotchety old man in Virginia who defied his local Homeowners Association and refused to take down the flag pole on his property along with the large American flag he flew on it.
Now we learn who that old man was. On June 15, 1919, Van T. Barfoot was born in Edinburg, Texas . That probably didn't make news back then.
But twenty five years later, on May 23, 1944, near Cyrano, Italy, That same Van T. Barfoot, who had in 1940 enlisted in the U.S. Army, set out alone to flank German machine gun positions from which gunfire was raining down on his fellow soldiers. His advance took him through a minefield but having done so, he proceeded to single-handedly take out three enemy machine gun positions, returning with 17 prisoners of war.
And if that werenโt enough for a day's work, he later took on and destroyed three German tanks sent to retake the machine gun positions.
That probably didnโt make much news either, given the scope of the war, but it did earn Van T. Barfoot, who retired as a Colonel after also serving In Korea and Vietnam , a well deserved Congressional Medal of Honor.
What did make news was his Neighborhood Association's quibble with how the 90-year-old Veteran chose to fly the American flag outside his suburban Virginia home. Seems the HOA rules said it was OK to fly a flag on a house-mounted bracket, but, for decorum, items such as Barfoot's 21-foot flagpole were "unsuitable."
Van Barfoot had been denied a permit for the pole, but erected it anyway and was facing Court action unless he agreed to take it down.
Then the HOA story made national TV, and the Neighborhood Association rethought its position and agreed to indulge this
aging hero who dwelt among them.
"In the time I have left", he said to the Associated Press, "I plan to continue to fly the American flag without interference."
As well he should. And if any of his neighbors had taken a notion to contest him further, they might have done well to read his Medal of Honor citation first. Seems it Indicates Mr. Van Barfoot wasn't particularly good at backing down.
If you've read this post and don't share it, - Guess what -You need your butt kicked. I share this with you because I don't want MY butt kicked anymore and I'm tired of seeing those who hate our country yet march in our streets, tear down our statues, burn our stores and loot our businesses have a free hand to do whatever they want.
WE ONLY LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE! AND, BECAUSE OF BRAVE OLD MEN LIKE VAN BARFOOT!
On this day 13 years ago, my only son was sworn in to the US Army. In ten days, it will be 12 years since he was killed in Afghanistan 2 weeks before he was due to come home. He was just 21. This week is also Memorial Day. My greatest fear now is that he will be forgotten. Please help me remember my boy during this tough week of special dates (share if you feel inspired. It never gets easier but the love and support always helps. โฅ๏ธ๐บ๐ธ

Jake was a Christian, an athlete, a patriot, an artist, dog lover, a friend to all and the funniest, happiest guy in the platoon. Jake, youโve left a huge void in our lives, but we will see you one day and there will no more heartache and no more goodbyes โฅ๏ธ๐บ๐ธ
A church in Atlanta was honoring one of its senior pastors who had been retired many years. He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age.
After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as the applause quieted down, he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the podium.
Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak....
"When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50-odd years of preaching. I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heartbreak and pain and fear and sorrow paralyzed me...
The only thing that would comfort was this verse....
"Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong,
We are weak but He is strong.....
Yes, Jesus loves me....
The Bible tells me so."
The old pastor stated, "I always noticed that it was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best."
"Here for you now is a Senior version of Jesus Loves Me":
JESUS LOVES ME
Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME..
YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.
Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(verse 2)
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song..
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."
(Verse 3)
When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
If you think this is neat, please pass it on to your friends. If you do not pass it on, nothing bad will happen, but you will have missed an opportunity to "reach out and touch" a friend or a loved one. God Bless Us All!!! AMEN!
I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes (he is 92). We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next
to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring every time.
When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked, 'What's the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life? Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response, knowing he would have a good one, and in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response.
"Got drunk once, and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son."
Pushing myself even at the lowest. ๐ช๐ฝFirst time pitching from 43 feet since my diagnosis in February, it feels so good to be pitching again. Chemo starts back up tomorrow, I am not giving up. ๐ฅ @ar_prime_sb@Mike_ARPrime16u

Parents out screwing their kids up.
1. If whatever the sport is comes before academics you're already going backwards.
2 . Graphics don't get kids recruited
3. College Coaches don't care what 8U, 9U, 10U or a middle schooler is doing.
4. Just because you think your kid is a baller doesn't mean he/she is one. Put them in situations against the top players in the area/region and see how they stack up.
5. Stop getting mad when others opinions don't align with yours.
6. If you donโt understand that relationships are important you don't understand recruiting.
7. Let your kid be a kid.
๐ Aggieland is grieving.
A Texas A&M student, Blake Dorman, has passed away at just 24 years old.
Blake was more than a student; he was known for his love and kindness. He DJโd at Harryโs, offered free rides from Northgate to keep others safe, helped anyone who needed it, and, according to those who knew him, Blake became a strong believer in Jesus and loved sharing his faith.
Now, his mother is facing the heartbreaking task of bringing him home to the Dallas area (Southlake) and covering funeral expenses.
If you feel led, please consider helping his family during this unimaginable time โ whether by donating or simply sharing.

Here.
I am not ashamed of my journey. My life will be a testimony.
But if I could offer a word of advice to any freshman, sophomore or junior athlete in high school it would be to just listen bro. All them adults in your life not just talking to talk. They been here longer. They done bumped they head already. They trying to save you from doing the same thing.
Do not make the mistake of thinking your talent alone is enough. Itโs not. Talent open doors. Character and grades keep you there. And if you already messed up, if your GPA not where it should be, if your name been in rooms for the wrong reasonsโฆ donโt quit. Keep digging. You can climb out the hole the same way you dug it.
Class of 29, 28 and 27 hear me.
Take your grades serious.โจChoose who you hang around wisely.โจProtect your name. Word spreads fast if you a crash out.โจRespect authority. Nobody riding for you like your parents and coaches.โจWork hard when nobody clapping.
Do not wait until senior year to lock in. That GPA do not lie.
Iโm still figuring it out myself. Iโm struggling but I know God got me.
Be intentional.โจLock in early. Pray. Show up ready to work.
Iโm learning the hard way that my future is being built in the small decisions I make today.
Start now.
Democrat Rep Ayanna Pressley went from a negative net worth to $8 million dollars since getting elected to Congress
She now has 5 rental properties, including one in Marthaโs Vineyard, generating $350,000 annually from rent
Absolutely insane
Also her husband served 10 years in prison for drug trafficking
