25 नवंबर 1949 को संविधान सभा में बाबासाहेब ने स्पष्ट कहा था कि जब संवैधानिक रास्ते खुले हों, तब civil disobedience, non-cooperation और ऐसे असंवैधानिक तरीकों का कोई औचित्य नहीं है। उन्होंने इन्हें “Grammar of Anarchy” कहा था और चेताया था कि लोकतंत्र को बचाना है तो ऐसे तरीकों का त्याग करना होगा।

भारत में सरकारें संसद और चुनाव से बनती हैं, सड़क पर हिंसा, अराजकता और दबाव की राजनीति से नहीं।

विडंबना देखिए, जो लोग हर बात पर संविधान बचाने का दावा करते हैं, वही आज खुलेआम संविधान द्वारा स्थापित लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया को चुनौती दे रहे हैं।

बाबासाहेब की सबसे बड़ी सीख यही थी कि असहमति का अधिकार है, लेकिन उसका मार्ग संविधान के भीतर होना चाहिए। जो लोग चुनावों के बजाय “resistance” और सड़क को सत्ता परिवर्तन का माध्यम बताते हैं, वे दरअसल उसी “Grammar of Anarchy” का समर्थन कर रहे हैं, जिसके ख़िलाफ़ बाबासाहेब ने देश को आगाह किया था.

लोकतंत्र का सबसे बड़ा शत्रु मतपत्र नहीं, बल्कि वह सोच है जो जनादेश को सड़क की अराजकता से पलटना चाहती है।

The Hindu ran what is a false and sensational claim alleging that Delhi Police used pellet guns and shock batons against Shaikh Irshad Mansoori, even carrying his photograph alongside the story. The Delhi Police categorically denied the allegation.

Yesterday, Union Minister J.P. Nadda met those injured during the violence in hospital. Mansoori was among them. Looking at him, does this resemble the injuries of someone allegedly hit by pellet guns?

This follows a familiar playbook: amplify unverified allegations against the police, target journalists who expose the violence by rioters, selectively show police action while downplaying or ignoring the attacks on security personnel, and manufacture a narrative of state excess.

In the age of smartphones, CCTV footage and instant verification, such narratives do not survive scrutiny for long. Facts eventually catch up with propaganda.

The Hindu, of all publications, should have exercised greater journalistic rigour before publishing such a serious allegation. Credibility, once lost, is difficult to regain.
