@Maloney_EA The back and forth conversations that we have has been some of the best PD. It has improved my instructional practice as a teacher. The ability to “phone a friend” and know that the information is solid is something I wish all teachers could access. Yes, I am interested !
Curriculum Principal Tracy O'Brien and Consultant Jameson Lee present Hour of Code to Board of Trustees @CDSBEO this evening. Lots of great student feedback and evidence of learning.
Heard this week about a school that (with good intentions) sends its new staff to observe its most experienced, high status long-timers to see ‘how they manage behaviour by building relationships’. You can see the problem.

Consider gradually shifting bedtimes and wakeup times, reducing screen time, and ensuring mealtimes are happening at predictable times. All these things can help bring important routines back into your home.
Today, I filed my first TV report in French. Live. From Haiti. For our sister station @noovo_ca.
Lots to work on, but deeply grateful for:
1️⃣ A public education system in 🇨🇦that offered French Immersion
2️⃣ Amazing teachers
3️⃣ Incredible parents
All made today possible.
#ThoughtForTheDay We should never underestimate the importance of building character with our students. Who they become as people as a result of their time with us is equally as important to how they perform academically. #HandleWithCareEDU
📚 Graphic organisers to support strategic reading & metacognition. A five step approach & the ‘GASE’ reading strategy. Inspired by @HuntingEnglish practical ideas in his excellent book, ‘Closing the Reading Gap’. Thanks @MrGoodwin23 & @olicav for the flow-spray idea.
We are grateful, always, to @CHEO for the great care that you give to our local kids. We need you to stay strong. Thank you to St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School for showing the love! @CDSBEO@CityofCornwall
@AlexMunter@CHEO@CityofCornwall These are my students at @StJoes7_8CDSBEO. They are the changemakers of the next generation! Please know that we are always thinking of the front line workers ♡ Thank you, everyone, for making our world a bit better!
@patmcleod2 look at the impact of our #Panthers!
Is MEMORIZING ever a good idea?
Turns out: yes.
Students THINK BETTER with information they know by heart.
And (according to recent research) they RECOGNIZE ERRORS better too.

Yes: we can make memorization terrible. But we can make it useful too!
