Second chapter from my PhD is out! https://t.co/k7d9GL3y23 We used DFTD transcriptomes to check for phenotypic differences between different clades of the disease. Results suggest that all clades of DFTD have highly similar gene expression profiles. @HoggCarolyn@KathyBelov
Out now in @Nature! Our comprehensive meta-analysis of global terrestrial and marine genetic diversity demonstrates rapid loss of genetic diversity and identifies conservation interventions that could mitigate this process

First paper from my PhD is out on antimicrobial peptide diversity in koalas! https://t.co/iYXYFxb4rC We found SNPs that we predict change peptide function and duplications of PhciCATH5 that were more common in the south. Interesting as PhciCATH5 has activity against chlamydia!
Excited to participate in Science in the Scrub today. Had lots of fun sharing the wonders of our unique animals and their amazing peptides with the future scientists of the world
Excited to have another chapter of my PhD published in @GenomeBiolEvol. We annotated class II MHC genes in 29 marsupials and found losses of genes in Dasyurid species. @HoggCarolyn@KathyBelov https://t.co/M2JxQLff6q
Super excited to announce the publication of the Bilby genome today in Nature Ecology & Evolution https://t.co/rcJ0YaTGEI
Massive effort by a great team of scientists, conservation managers & Indigenous Rangers! @Sydney_Science@KathyBelov

Q: What could GO WRONG with a major cancer genomics study in which tumours are sequenced to only 15x depth?
A: An awful LOT! 😟
Our detailed reanalysis now out in @RSocPublishing:

That’s a wrap of the official part of the conference!
Congratulations to all our student winners!!
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who attended, participated, & made this an awesome week!
Whatever’s going next, party and travel safely & enjoy the rest of the year!

As schools windup we want to thank @questacon for hosting our recent QLab takeover, @DeadlyScience for letting us contribute to Deadly Learners, and the numerous schools our team visited directly. Wishing all future peptide detectives a happy break and see you in 2024 @arc_gov_au
