@Bryces3dprints@grid_events It appears to be the entire Fairport Electric client base, which includes village of Fairport and most of the town of Perinton.
I’m glad I actually have a degree in health policy, because these people are really out here trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.
1. ACA subsidies do NOT go “to insurance companies” as profit.
They’re pass-through payments on behalf of consumers to reduce:
•premiums (APTC)
•deductibles & co-pays (CSR)
If you remove the subsidies, insurers don’t suddenly “get” $26 billion.
Consumers lose the discount.
Full stop.
This is like saying:
“Let’s stop giving Pell Grants to universities and give the money to students.”
Pell Grants already are money for students, they simply pass through the university’s billing system.
Same logic. Same mechanism.
2. Giving $26B “directly to consumers” requires a parallel system that doesn’t exist.
Healthcare isn’t groceries.
You cannot walk into a cardiologist’s office and “negotiate” open-heart surgery like you’re haggling over avocados.
You cannot “shop for”:
•hospital admission
•chemotherapy
•emergency care
•insulin
•ICU beds
•specialized physicians
These are regulated services with fixed networks, fixed prices, fixed billing systems, and fixed contracting rules.
Cassidy is selling people a fantasy, a free-market fever dream where individual consumers can out-negotiate hospital monopolies, Big Pharma, and vertically integrated healthcare giants.
They can’t.
Nobody can.
Not even Fortune 500 companies get that level of leverage.
So either Cassidy doesn’t understand how healthcare works…
Or he thinks you don’t.
Either way, this “give it directly to the people” pitch is nothing but repackaged misinformation designed to gut the ACA and blame the fallout on consumers.
And they hope you’re too distracted to notice.
@MagnusApollo Same. I remember when science fiction author William Gibson used to refer to twitter as "cool-hunting", where you could find interesting people and fascinating ideas.
Most people think luck is purely random.
Neurologist James Austin thought differently.
He said there are 4 kinds of luck — and only one is out of your hands.
The rest? You can engineer.
🧵Let’s break it down:
Happy birthday to NYPL's iconic duo, Patience & Fortitude!! This beloved pair has guarded the steps of NYPL since 1911, capturing the imagination and affection of New Yorkers and visitors from all over the world 🦁🦁
Ultimately, we human beings depend on nature, so we must preserve our close relations with her. Sometimes we seem to think that technology will solve our problems and allow us to do whatever we like. This Earth Day let’s remember that the reality is we have to protect our world.
Our #Vision is to grow Fairport into the most sought-after destination in Upstate New York. We are pleased to see this article, reflecting the success of our Village!

Not finishing a book you are not enjoying is a sign of self-respect. It means you are aware that your time and attention are precious, finite resources, and that there are far too many great books in this world to waste yourself on the mediocre ones.
I have met several people who “hated history” in school yet later in life, once they discovered podcasts and well-written history books, grew to love it.
They never actually hated history; they just hated that it was taught as a list of battle dates.
Turn your volume down, or don’t. Either way, you’re about to experience the eerie, high-decibel coyote night shift at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge, in Virginia.
