Another first for India-
In pursuit of seamless care for women met the Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Dr Sharanaprakash Patil @S_PrakashPatil today and submitted our recommendations on menopause in medical, nursing education & allied health professionals. He has agreed to all of them- being a doctor himself, he understood the need.

A chapter on perimenopause and menopause in the MBBS and nursing curricula. A Fellowship programme — India has no formal menopause qualification today, and Karnataka will create the first. And a certified module for serving Medical Officers, who are the doctors most women will actually see.

A committee will be constituted to design the curriculum. Further details will follow from the Ministry.

Why this matters- last week the Health Ministry agreed to screen women for menopause through Gruha Arogya. Identifying women is only useful if there is someone trained to help them. This is the other half.

And it creates work. A credentialled menopause specialist does not exist in India today. These doctors can be absorbed at taluk and district level, in government and private hospitals, in a field where demand is rising fast and there is no trained workforce to meet it.

Delivered the inaugural address at the International Conference on “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Advance Sustainable Development Goals,” organised by the Wolverhampton-Bengaluru Centre for Research and Innovation, a collaboration involving Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University and the University of Wolverhampton.

I spoke about the need to use AI responsibly as a force multiplier for solving real-world challenges. Its value will be measured by how effectively it improves healthcare, supports farmers, strengthens education, enables better governance and helps bridge development gaps. Students must combine AI skills with strong fundamentals, scientific temper and critical thinking, while universities must place greater emphasis on research, innovation, entrepreneurship and employability.

Karnataka will continue building a future-ready AI ecosystem through skilling, deeptech support and research partnerships with a clear focus on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and delivering measurable impact.

ಧಾರವಾಡದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಕಚೇರಿ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅತಿವೃಷ್ಟಿ / ಬರ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಕುರಿತು ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆಯ ಕೊರತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ಕ್ರಮಗಳು, ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇವಿನ ಪೂರೈಕೆ, ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರು ಒದಗಿಸಲು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಇಂದು ಜಿಕೆವಿಕೆ ಕೃಷಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗಿ, ಕೃಷಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳ ನೇಮಕಾತಿ ನಿಯಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನವಿಯನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.

ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಲಾದ ನಿಯಮಗಳ ತಿದ್ದುಪಡಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿಯೇ ಇಂದು ಕೃಷಿ ಪದವೀಧರರಿಗೆ ಈ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಸ���ಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಅಳಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಆತಂಕದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಕೃಷಿ ಪದವೀಧರರ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಾವಕಾಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆಯಾಗದಂತೆ, ಈ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾನೂನಾತ್ಮಕವಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕವಾಗಿ ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಬಗೆಹರಿಸಲು ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೃಹ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಂಕ್‌ ಖರ್ಗೆ ಅವರು ಹಾಗೂ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

हरियाणा में 'सरकारी पोर्टल' को "किसानों से हकमारी का हथियार" बनाने वाली भाजपा सरकार की एक और करतूत देखिए ! 👇

⛔ प्रदेश में खाद खरीदने से लेकर मंडियों में सर���ारी भाव पर फसल बेचने तक के लिए किसानों को "मेरी फसल-मेरा ब्यौरा" पोर्टल पर खेती का कराना पंजीकरण अनिवार्य है...

⛔ और प्रदेश में अभी करीब 14.50 लाख एकड़ खरीफ खेती का ब्यौरा दर्ज होना बाकी है, मगर सरकारी पोर्टल के "भाजपाई ठगी की खिड़की" 31 जुलाई से ही बंद कर दी गई है !

❓मतलब 14.50 लाख एकड़ से अधिक ख़रीफ़ खेती के किसानों को भाजपा सरकार ने सीजन की शुरुआत में ही बग़ैर ख़रीद के ठिकाने लगा दिया?

❓जब फसल पंजीकरण के बिना खेती की पहचान और किसान की ज़रूरतों व मेहनत को भाजपा सरकार कोई मौका तक नहीं देगी तो फिर इतनी जल्दी पोर्टल बंद करने की साजिश क्यों?

👉 फसल पंजीकरण की उम्मीद लिए सीएससी सेंटर आने वाले किसानों को मायूस होकर लौटना पड़ रहा है, जबक�� सुविधाजनक पंजीकरण का इंतजाम सरकार का सबसे पहला काम है !

❓अभी तो सीजन की बिजाई का ही काम चल रहा है, आगे मौसम की मार, मुआवजे का धोखा और मंडियों में भाजपाई लूट... किसानों के अरमानों का गला घोंटने के लिए खड़ा है ही, फिर पहले पड़ाव पर ही किसान की कमर तोड़ने की साजिश क्यों?

👉 इस बार कमजोर मानसून की वजह से पिछले ��ाल की तुलना में पहले ही खरीफ की बिजाई करीब 30% तक कम हुई है, इसके बावजूद जानबूझकर पहले ही सरकारी पोर्टल बंद कर देना भाजपा के किसान विरोधी चेहरे का ही नमूना है !

👉 अब प्रदेश के किसानों की सीधी बात ये है कि- नए नए शिगूफे बनाने, झूठ फैलाने और बयानवीरता के रील बनवाने से थोड़ी फुर्सत निकालकर सीएम श्रीमान नायब सैनी कृपया किसानों की मुसीबतों पर ध्यान दीजिए....

और सरकारी पोर्टल पर लगे "भाजपाई धोखे की शटर ���ंदी" को उठाकर फसल पंजीकरण की तारीख, पिछले साल की तरह 15 सितंबर तक बढ़ाई जाए !

Karnataka is set to become the first state in India to bring menopause into its public health system.

Indian women reach menopause at around 46- nearly five years earlier than the global average of 51. Most go through it without ever being told what is happening to them.

Dr Jyotsna Mirlay and I met the Hon’ble Health Minister, Shri U.T. Khader @utkhader

What struck me most was his openness. Menopause is not an easy subject to raise in a government meeting, and it is rare to find someone who listens without discomfort and grasps immediately why it matters. He did not need convincing that the gap exists.

An expert committee has been constituted, to be chaired by Dr Mirlay, bringing in the Indian Menopause Society along with nutrition and psychiatry.

What is proposed:
– Public awareness on perimenopause and menopause
– Menopause screening built into Gruha Arogya, which already reaches every woman over 30
– Breast and bone health screening at taluk/district level
– Nutrition and lifestyle guidance as first-line care
– Training for ASHAs, ANMs and Medical Officers
– A dedicated midlife women’s health clinic, held monthly/weekly

The Minister has also indicated he will take this to the Central Government, so that other states can follow.

I came to this trying to understand my own body better. I met Dr Mirlay, and we found we agreed on the thing that matters most-women deserve to know what is happening to them- and that has to reach rural Karnataka, not only the cities.
