@MccardJoseph@Mila_Zonderling My framework prioritizes ontological parsimony—no gratuitous entities or substrates—thereby dissolving virtually all metaphysical paradoxes and impasses. I invite you to ponder it, Joseph.
Stuart, I respect your defense of Orch-OR as quantum pan-protopsychism. In fact, qualia arising directly in objective reduction is a strong move beyond "cartoon-neuron" emergence.
Yet it still leaves an explanatory gap under standard physicalism: why *these* OR events feel like anything at all...
My reframing via Phenomenological Absolutism and Mutual Exclusivity closes that gap completely, at the (admittedly radical) cost of identifying OR events *themselves* as the ontological actualization of absolute, mutually exclusive “is-nesses”—localized quantum field configurations that *are* phenomenal reality, with no substrate, no bridge, and no residue. Microtubule orchestration becomes the internal resonant saturation of those is-nesses; the hard problem dissolves by identity.
Orch-OR isn’t replaced. It’s fulfilled as the most austere physics of consciousness.
I’d value your thoughts. Thanks.

@LensScientific Searching for a deeper foundation under QM often rests on the naive realist assumption that phenomena exist independently of experience.
@omgsidewalks Fair point in many fields, but frontier models now match or exceed PhD experts on tough graduate-level benchmarks in math, physics, and biology (e.g. 90%+ on GPQA Diamond).
@PhysInHistory Newton's genius might have recognized that genetic programming shows how blind variation + selection can evolve intricate eyes and bilateral symmetry from simplicity...
Thank you. I'm glad the paper resonated with you.
You're right that the core logic runs from (1) mandatory localized actualizations in austere relativistic QFT, to (2) the vicious regress any indexing of multiple actualizations would entail, and therefore to (3) Mutual Exclusivity and Phenomenological Absolutism as the only coherent position left standing.
This is not merely a self-consistent metaphysical construction. It is driven by two intertwined sources of "experience":
First, the empirical and formal success of relativistic QFT itself when taken with full ontological seriousness; locality, frame-dependence, and austerity are not optional add-ons but demanded by the physics. Any non-local indexing mechanism would violate that physics and render science practically sterile.
Second, the inescapable first-person datum of absolute phenomenology: each moment of experience simply *is*, complete in itself, with no external vantage from which it could be indexed or compared to a supposed "nothing."
ME + PA is the fixed point where these two (physics pursued without compromise and phenomenology taken as it presents itself) converge without remainder or inflation. It is the position we are forced into once we refuse to add gratuitous metaphysical scaffolding.
