Yesterday, I posted about a school my son attends in Texas and the school I attended. Pictures 1 and 2 in this post.

The post was about decisions, priorities, and their outcomes.

Most people understand that interplay. They understand the crux of my argument.

Some miss it totally.

Some comments:

"This this a stretch".

"States is a different world".

"But you pay more taxes".

"Economy of Texas is bigger".

I am not highlighting the above comments to chastise anyone.

But I want us to think about them. And what they say about us, as a people and country.

What does it mean when we say, "States is different"?

"Economy of Texas is bigger"?

Folks, we have been fed so much garbage from politicians in our lifetimes, that we have now become the biggest obstacles to our own salvation.

Corrupt and greedy politicians need not invest anytime to obfuscate and distract.

If Kenya is different, it is because we often make different (read incompetent, dumb, or self-serving) decisions about how to use our resources.

Here is a question: Norway is a tiny country. Small economy relative to the US.

But nobody in their right mind will say that it is acceptable for Norwegian kids to not have decent schools.

Decent hospitals and infrastructure.

And, they don't.

Because the issue in governance is not necessarily about the size of the pie.

It is about how you divy up the pie.

It is about your actual priorities.

Let me help everyone understand what am saying.

In the third attachment here, which I recommend everyone ready, re-read, understand, and download, you see decisions made around the world by the private and public sector.

About how to divy up the pie.

Regardless of size.

The State of California has more money than God. 6th largest economy in the world.

Larger than the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, etc.

Huge!

But it spends 21% of its revenue on total compensation.

Total!

Florida, 14%. New York, 13%!

How about the private sector?

The largest, most successful firms, including the likes of Meta and Google, about 30%!

They use what is left TO DO THINGS.

Build. Invest. Service Citizens. Develop. Expand. Grow

Now, look at our counties.

Despite a legal limit of 35% - counties are spending close to 50% of all revenue on THEMSELVES.

In salaries alone!

On 1% of the population.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is not prudence. It is not spending with purpose.

It is perversion of government by the ruling class.

It is what we need to confront in this country.

Take a look at the last picture, and you will understand what is happening in government.

So, please, let us not be lazy about some of these issues. Spending close to 50% of all revenue on 1% of the population is what births the school I attended.

Shouting WANTAM without a serious and proper understanding of what ails Kenya is futile.

It costs me $0 annually.

After I pay my taxes.

A big fat, $0.

I challenge anyone to find me a better

The last school is my primary school.

Right here in Kiambu.

That picture is not from when I attended.

It is how it looks today.

These, ladies and gentlemen, are the results of choices. Of decisions.

The people making decisions are with public funds MATTER.

More than we like to admit.

This school in the last picture is the result of stolen and misused CDF funds. Of mis-used funds.

Millions of our children are paying the price for decades so that a few people can live out their wildest imaginations.

I want to stop this.

But I cannot do it alone.

In 2025, Kenyan 15-year-olds were among those from 90 countries who sat the PISA exam.

Our mean scores against the OECD average:

1. Math - 326 | OECD 463
2. Science - 335 | OECD 482
3. Reading - 320 | OECD 461

Merciful Father, on this Mercy Tuesday, I place before You the work of my hands, my dreams, plans, and everything I am labouring to build.

Lord, establish the work of my hands. I have worked, prayed, waited, tried, and sometimes wondered when my efforts would finally bear fruit. By Your mercy, may my labour not be wasted. May Your favour speak for me in rooms where I am not present. Connect me with people who will recognise what You have placed within me.
