Hello! We are a group of mental health counsellors in Hyderabad, India. We are a trauma informed, queer affirmative and patriarchy deconstructing group of therapists who are here to change the way people look at Mental Health!
I may have ‘leveled up’ in my medical self-advocacy 😂.
Rather than stewing on a response/only speaking up later, I just *reflexively* & sternly snapped at a doctor:
“Do NOT misdiagnose me with anxiety when I am upset with you over the mishandling of my medical care.”
My answer was then to say this is how birth babies are announced, baby showers are done, so why the secrecy with ours just because we adopted him. The side effects of having a ton of folks reach out to me and my husband has been a lovely bonus. And no regrets.
It is infuriating when people say: “think positive thoughts” when mental health isn’t doing well. It is dismissive/stigmatizing to reduce real illnesses that impact all aspects of quality of life to this. It is not a lack of positive thinking that leads to mental health issues.
I have been stuck in bed and within one room for almost 15 years now. I have learned over time to let go ( as many of us have) in the most impossible and profound of ways. To watch life pass by, to observe…. #cfs#mecfs#pmwe#longcovid#lymedisease#lyme
Upper-caste Indians at Google are so terrified of discussions of caste that they managed to get a talk by @dalitdiva cancelled. And thereby Streisand-effected caste into the national news. https://t.co/Nn24cV7Yla
When I'm telling myself to create or engage more, it's actually my own voice. But I realise that this other voice that tells me "oh you're not good enough or u don't belong in here" is a weird, rude, disembodied one, & not mine.

Chronic illness in five lines
- I finally have a bit of energy
- I overestimated my energy and did too much
- I feel awful
- I'm resting and frustrated
- Oh I have a bit of energy again
So important to focus on soothing ourselves right now. We're reminded of @warsan_shire's lines:
"later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
where does it hurt?
it answered
everywhere
everywhere
everywhere."

The global collective violence is kicking up old ancestral traumas. Rage, exhaustion and fear are normal responses to such activation & grief. Our cells & bodies remember. Be kind & compassionate with yourselves.
10 minute deliveries need to be regulated/outlawed.
No civilised society can be incentivising delivery executives to break traffic rules & put own & other’s lives at risk. All for a quicker pizza.
Am going to raise this in parliament.
"they live in a chawl but have a fridge. Their kids go to school."
-- the upper-caste urge to dismiss the struggles of the marginalised if they even dare to live a life that's barely above hand-to-mouth existence. The belief that basic subsistence is all they deserve.
When someone deeply listens to you—it's like holding out a dented cup you've had since childhood—and watching it fill it up with cold, fresh water. When it balances on top of the brim, you are understood. When it overflows & touches your skin, you are loved. — John Fox.
