Customs & border procedures (25%) and non-tariff barriers (24%) emerged as the top constraints to accessing regional markets at the @KAS roundtable. A reminder that the African Continental Free Trade Area’s promise will be judged by businesses’ experience on the ground. #AfCFTA
“Trust is not a soft value invoked when convenient. It is a hard economic asset.” 📊
High-level insights from today’s Private Sector Roundtable for the #TrustSummit2026 on strengthening Public-Private Dialogue, digital trust, and regional trade in Kenya.
Trade corridors sustain regional trade, but infrastructure alone does not guarantee efficiency.
At the Enhancing Corridor Efficiency Conference in Addis Ababa held on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, policymakers and logistics leaders examined proposed changes to Ethiopia’s Free on-Board policy and Multimodal Transport System as the sector shifts towards greater competition.
Convened under the UK-funded Horn of Africa Initiative governance project implemented by TradeMark Africa, the dialogue focused on governance, regulatory clarity and public–private collaboration to improve corridor performance.

TMA joined the East African Business and Investment Summit & Expo 2026 in Nairobi.
Leaders called for full implementation of the Single Customs Territory and removal of non-tariff barriers. With $9 billion locked in trade barriers, reducing friction will unlock regional trade.

Feed costs—about 60–70% of expenses—remain the biggest constraint in Africa’s fisheries. At a two-day meeting in Nairobi on 4–5 Sep 2025, stakeholders set out practical steps to cut these costs while lifting production and standards. The engagement, part of the Women and Youth Economic Empowerment in Fisheries Through Market Access Programme led by the @AfCFTA with @TradeMarkAfrica in partnership with @MastercardFdn, was convened by @LatticeAfrica.
Most participants, mostly women and youth, alongside policymakers, regulators, financiers and producers, examined the value chain from inputs to market and called for faster clearance, simpler documentation and consistent enforcement to reduce border frictions. They also noted that floating feeds and sustainable proteins such as Black Soldier Fly, other insects and Azolla are now commercially viable in several markets, though uptake is limited by high upfront processing costs and gaps in technical extension.

@Safaricom_Care You only fixed it for a few days, so I am not sure if the plan is to have customers complain every other day 🤷🏿♀️. This is closer to a 20mbps than a 40mbps plan.
