@sumanthraman Since 2006, Chennai's average rainfall has increased. All reservoirs in Chennai remained almost full since Jan 2021 due to Krishna water inflow, etc. That means water management has improved considerably. Adyar river receives inflow from 200 lakes. Focus on flood control needed!!
@pravieen While I appreciate the efforts taken recently, none of the governments have made systematic preventive efforts to equip adyar river to handle more than 20,000 cusecs that may arise when daily rainfall exceeds 20cms. They should choose the right team to build the infrastructure.
@rannbat@praddy06 They are almost full. Every time they wait for chembarambakkam to reach 2 feet below full level to release water ignoring the fact that adyar river is not deep enough to handle large outflow when rains go above 10cm. Also, the media does not talk these technical issues.
@PIW44 With lakes like Chembarambakkam less than 3 feet from reaching full capacity, what steps are being taken if it rains more than 5cm everyday for a couple of weeks? I feel media should focus on debating different strategies to drain the lakes safely days before heavy rains.
