I’ve spent much of this year learning about car bloat, the process through which smaller vehicles are being replaced by increasingly massive SUVs and trucks.
What I’ve learned: Huge cars are terrible for society, often in ways that are hidden.
A summary 🧵
@WarrenJWells@NVVineTrail@smarttrain@grtredwoodtrail@SFBayTrail Okay, grumpypants. Whether these facilities are on Caltrans ROW, railroad ROW, or private easements is kinda irrelevant. Key point is that they all significantly align with major transportation corridors (including Caltrans ROW) and provide access to destinations along same.
@Edward_E_Booth@NorthBayNews Congrats - incredibly excited that the PD and Darius' team have made the decision to invest in Napa County following the announcements by Lee. Looking forward to continuing to get my LOCAL paper delivered in time for morning coffee!
@WarrenJWells I'd be far more concerned with the paltry standards for Office space. 1/20k sf means that my company, which has 35 people across ~8000sf of office space (3 former SFH bldgs in downtown core) would only need 1 parking space. That's INSANE.
@TheFederman @Clivedurdle @BikeTarrytown Would be remiss if there wasn't a plug for the nonprofit that's doing the hard work to make this trail a reality. @NVVineTrail is the real deal.
@KostelecPlan @WarrenJWells As I've read this in the past, use of an aesthetic treatment such as that shown effectively removes the TCD status of the existing transverse lines, making this...an unmarked crosswalk. Which has the same legal requirements for stop/yield as a standard CW.
Am I wrong?
