Technology is redefining how Pune Metro serves its commuters.

* Through a CCTV Video Analytics Hackathon, Pune Metro explored AI-based solutions focused on passenger safety, fall detection, security monitoring, and identification of unattended bags. Metafusion was selected as the winning technology partner for meeting all requirements and presenting a robust, scalable solution.

* Pune Metro has also enabled NCMC interoperability, allowing commuters to travel using NCMC cards issued by any bank, further strengthening its role within India’s national mobility framework.

* Adding to digital convenience, Pune Metro QR tickets are now available on ONDC, enabling ticket purchases through multiple ONDC-enabled apps, aligned with the vision of One Nation, One Mobility, One Commerce Platform.

Together, these initiatives are shaping a smarter, safer, and more connected metro experience for Pune.

पुणे मेट्रो प्रवाशांच्या सेवेसाठी तंत्रज्ञानाच्या माध्यमातून नवे मापदंड निर्माण करत आहे.

* CCTV व्हिडिओ अ‍ॅनालिटिक्स हॅकथॉनद्वारे प्रवासी सुरक्षा, अपघात ओळख, निगराणी तसेच बेवारस पिशव्यांची ओळख यासाठी AI-आधारित उपायांचा अभ्यास करण्यात आला. सर्व निकष पूर्ण करून प्रभावी सादरीकरण केल्यामुळे Metafusion या कंपनीची तंत्रज्ञान भागीदार म्हणून निवड करण्यात आली.

* यासोबतच, पुणे मेट्रोने NCMC इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी सुरू केली असून, आता कोणत्याही बँकेचे NCMC कार्ड वापरून प्रवास करता येणार आहे. यामुळे पुणे मेट्रो राष्ट्रीय मोबिलिटी प्रणालीचा एक महत्त्वाचा भाग ठरत आहे.

मोदी सरकारकडून पुणेकरांना मोठी भेट! पुणे शहरासाठी १००० ई-बस मंजूर; पाठपुराव्याला यश !

पंतप्रधान मा.श्री. नरेंद्रजी मोदी यांच्या नेतृत्वातील केंद्र सरकारकडून पुणेकरांसाठी मोठी आणि ऐतिहासिक भेट प्राप्त झाली असून पीएम ई-ड्राईव्ह योजनेअंतर्गत पुणे महानगर परिवहन महामंडळाला (PMPML) तब्बल १००० नव्या इलेक्ट्रिक बस मिळण्यास मंजुरी देण्यात आली आहे. केंद्रीय अवजड उद्योग मंत्री मा.श्री. एच.डी. कुमारस्वामी यांनी या प्रस्तावावर अंतिम शिक्कामोर्तब केले असून, लवकरच या बस पीएमपीएमएलच्या ताफ्यात दाखल व्हायला सुरुवात होईल.

या निर्णयामुळे पुणे आणि पिंपरी-चिंचवडमधील सार्वजनिक वाहतूक व्यवस्था अधिक सक्षम, आधुनिक आणि पर्यावरणपूरक होणार आहे. यामुळे वाहतूक कोंडी कमी होईल, कार्बन उत्सर्जन घटेल आणि नागरिकांना अधिक कार्यक्षम, आरामदायी प्रवासाची सुविधा मिळेल.

यासाठी आपण गेल्या काही महिन्यांपासून सातत्याने प्रयत्नशील होतो. महाराष्ट्र सरकार आणि केंद्र सरकारदरम्यान समन्वय साधत, मुख्यमंत्री मा.श्री. देवेंद्रजी फडणवीस यांची भेट घेऊन आवश्यक प्रशासकीय प्रक्रिया गतीमान करण्याचे काम केले. राज्य सरकारकडून रिझर्व्ह बँकेला आवश्यक पत्र पाठविल्यानंतर पीएमपीएमएलचा प्रस्ताव केंद्रीय अवजड उद्योग मंत्रालयाकडे पाठविण्यात आला होता. नवी दिल्ली येथे एच. डी. कुमारस्वामी यांच्यासोबत झालेल्या भेटीनंतर त्यांनी तत्काळ या प्रस्तावाला मंजुरी देण्याचे आश्वासन दिले होते, आणि आज त्या प्रयत्नांना यश आले आहे.

पुणे शहराची सार्वजनिक वाहतूक व्यवस्था भक्कम करण्याचा आमचा निर्धार आहे. सध्या ३२ किलोमीटरवर मेट्रो धावत आहे आणि शिवाजीनगर-हिंजवडी मेट्रो लवकरच सुरू होणार आहे. मेट्रोचे विस्तारित मार्ग, नव्या बस सेवा आणि ई-वाहतूक यांचा संगम साधून आम्ही “स्मार्ट, ग्रीन आणि सस्टेनेबल पुणे” घडविण्याच्या दिशेने काम करत आहोत. पीएमपीएमएलच्या ताफ्यात अधिकाधिक बस समाविष्ट करून वाहतूक व्यवस्थेचा कणा अधिक मजबूत करणे हे आमचे प्राधान्य राहील.

पुणे आणि पिंपरी चिंचवड शहरासाठी १००० ई-बस मंजूर केल्याबद्दल मी पंतप्रधान मा. नरेंद्र मोदी यांचे मनःपूर्वक आभार मानतो. तसेच या प्रयत्नाला पाठिंबा आणि सहकार्य दिल्याबद्दल केंद्रीय मंत्री मा. एच. डी. कुमारस्वामी आणि मुख्यमंत्री मा. देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांचेही मनःपूर्वक आभार !

Indore joins the list of cities dismantling its Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS). BRTS was touted by lot of urban planners as model for urban mobility (remember couple of IIT profs even pitching it in Delhi as an alternative against metro)

Perhaps the truth is that BRTS works on paper, not in cities where lanes are few, lane enforcement tend to be very weak, and mixed traffic is chaos. So BRTS kind of initiatives done to decongest often ends up choking roads.
