(1/X) Another thing about narcissistic sociopaths. First, let me say that the coverage of the campaign the last few months from most mainstream sources has been unconscionably bad. The general tone and focus of it suggests this is a regular election....
@Kasparov63 I remember The NY Times running play by play recaps of every game. I sat with some players in DuPont Circle in Washington DC and stepped through several of the games with them. Good memories.
Come to think of it, denigrating the worth of a soldier’s service based on whether he deployed to a war zone is… kind of like denigrating the worth of a woman’s citizenship based on whether she happens to have children.
@SethAbramson And leaving the military to hold public office is also serving the country. Has been since the dawn of time. Just another nonsense argument.
The most frustrating part about Adam McKay & others who flood lefty social circles with lies about Biden's economic record is that they're a big part of the reason Donald Trump still has any semblance of a political future.
But here's the *second* most frustrating part. (1/9)
1/ With Iran in the news, I'm going to do a brief educational thread on their history since the 1979 "Revolution" where they moved from a flawed monarchy with democratic principles to a theocracy under Ayatollah Khomeini.
Here's a picture of life in Iran before the revolution. She's cutting a piece of cake and showing her legs.
Religious clerics were put in charge of the government, and women's rights were severely curtailed. This included enforced wearing of a hijab in public, destroying women's rights to divorce, custody and inheritance, limiting women's ability to work in many fields and designing society where they were forced to be homemakers.
After the revolution, women were segregated from public spaces like theaters and sports arenas. It's difficult to advocate for your human rights when you are not allowed access to the public commons in the way men are.
@RexChapman Hey, I read your book in one day. Loved it. Congratulations on writing the best sports memoir I’ve ever read. And thank you for being so honest about your struggles and your recovery. This work will probably end up saving a life. 🤜🤛
If Fani Willis had a conflict of interest because a man might have paid for a meal or a flight, imagine how serious it would be if a Supreme Court justice heard cases related to an election his wife had tried to overturn.
George Stinney Jr was falsely convicted and murdered by the U.S at only 14. He was accused of killing two white girls, Betty of 11-years-old and Mary of 7, the bodies were found near the house where the boy resided with his parents.
Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents, he was held in solitary 80 miles from the city, he was held alone without anybody to talk to. He was heard alone without the presence of his parents or a lawyer.
At that time, all the jurors were white. The trial lasted only 2 hours and the sentence was handed down 10 minutes later. The boy's parents were not allowed in the court room, and was subsequently expelled from that city after the trial.
During his trial, until the day of his execution, he always carried a Bible in his hands, claiming for innocence. He was too short for the electric chair so they used the Bible he was carrying as a booster seat. He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in the head.
70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carolina. The beam with which the two girls were killed, weighed more than 19.07 kilograms. Therefore, it was impossible for Stinney to be able to lift it, let alone be able to hit hard enough to kill them.
‘The Green Mile’ by Stephen King was inspired by the same case.
