To the 10 seeds, where we run into a little bit of trouble.
#37 Santa Clara starts us off. OKC is the closest regional, but that's a no-go due to Saint Mary's. So they have their choice of two St. Louises instead. They would ordinarily go to the one in the West (closer regional), except for the fact that Gonzaga is in the same half of that regional. Teams that played each other three or more times prior to the NCAA Tournament cannot possibly be allowed to meet until the Elite Eight, so Santa Clara slides into St. Louis in the Midwest instead.
#38 UCF heads to the closest pod in Philadelphia.
#39 Missouri is the luckiest 10 seed of all time, getting a subregional in St. Louis just 122 miles away from Columbia. This is a tough draw for both Miami and Purdue, but just as it was with Houston before, there's no rule currently in place disallowing a team from playing a game that close to campus, provided that they aren't the host team. If anything, it's encouraged, based on the language that teams should be placed in their region of natural interest as much as possible. (There is a rule about avoiding placing top-4 seed at "home crowd disadvantages" in the first round, but that doesn't apply here.)
#40 Texas A&M closes out the 10s by landing in Oklahoma City.
