react was already a decade long ecosystem before shadcn joined vercel.

react core, next/remix, redux/query, react native/expo, component libraries, design systems, tooling and the wider community all compounded it

shadcn brilliantly turned react + radix + tailwind into a source-owned model that fits the llm era unusually well

that explains its huge impact now. it does not make it responsible for “much of react’s success”

shadcn deserves the praise.
this is still a very vercel-shaped retelling of react history.

if shadcn worked at cloudflare, i doubt this tweet exists.
