@m1kemac @UOW_VC @m1kemac looking fwd to extending our knowledge of the importance of DHA for heart and skeletal muscle function into brain physiology and concussion.
Our latest article on long-term omega-3 supplementation in runners in @MSSEonline !
More long-term interventions are needed in which the omega-3 index rises to the target values, i.e. ≥ 8%.

Using assessment criteria specific to n-3 studies, the average score out of 5 was 1.48 (n=46). Only 3 studies scored a 4 and no studies score a 5.
RAFO the rest!
Great collaborative effort (@Ryan_Anthony__@peoples_greg@m1kemac) to get this important info out to n-3 researchers!

@drmdoyle on eccentric 🚴♂️ after coronary surgery
- Frailty is common in our cohort 👴🏻
- Exercise is physiologically taxing postop 🏃🏽♀️
- VO2 halved for eccentric vs concentric
- Benefits to patients with poor reserve

Interesting outcome. Highlights the importance of considering the #omega3 dose and differential roles of EPA v DHA for the #heart. Future work focused on the correction of a nutritional deficit rather than a therapeutic approach is needed.
New by @MatthewBrookPhD & @UNAD_Research. #n3 in older females produced hypertrophy in type II muscle fibres (which have previously been shown to preferentially incorporate DHA; Fig below https://t.co/O9sN7Rn9Sy). Markers of n3 membrane composition are crucial in future studies.
Wow😮this is a first... 12 weeks of Basic military training diet reduced the #O3I in 100% of Aus Army recruits. Luckily, we know how to fix this! Great work @peoples_greg & @CMEP_UOW

Exciting things to follow from @TeamOmegaPN 🎉 Seems fitting that our 1st tweet is a reminder to re-read this excellent review of the underlying mechanisms of action of omega-3 written by our own mentor Prof. Peter McLennan (40+ years researching n-3 🥸) https://t.co/UL7ITrEMqA
Ahead of the 1-year to go mark until @wollongong2022, CEO Stu Taggart sat down with @BicyclingAust to discuss the logistics of planning the event, share some insight on the course & discuss the economic boost the event will bring to our region🚲
