This is not just a story. It is a pain we must never forget.

Nastia Stoliuk was only 10 years old.

She dreamed of becoming a hairdresser. She loved flowers, embroidered cross-stitch patterns, cared for stray kittens, and believed everything would be okay.

On the morning of February 24, 2022, she woke up and asked her mother, "Mom, am I going to school? I have a test today."

Instead, war had come.

That same day, Nastia cut out little paper hearts, wrote "Everything will be okay" on them, and placed them all around the house.

On March 1 2022, the family heard explosions. They ran into a room and lay on the floor. Nastia sat against the wall.

A russian shell fragment tore through their home.

Her mother crawled back to her daughter, took her hand, and felt warm blood running over it.

Nastia took her last breath in her mother's arms.

The next morning, her family brought her body home. Her mother insisted on seeing her one last time and discovered that half of her daughter's head had been torn away.

They buried Nastia three times: first in the sand during the fighting, then in the village cemetery, and finally again after her body was exhumed. Today, a heart-shaped monument stands over her grave.

Her younger sister struggled to understand what had happened. She kept saying, "Nastia lives in the cemetery."

Her best friend, Polina, still rides her bicycle to Nastia's grave. She tells her mother she'll be gone for ten minutes, but stays for an hour. When asked where she was, she simply replies, "I was with Nastia."

Nastia wanted to become a hairdresser. She planted flowers and believed that everything would be okay.

Instead, she was killed by a russian shell fragment inside her own home.

Mykhailo Dianov survived Olenivka!🫡❤️‍🩹

Every year at this time, we in Ukraine honor the memory of our people who were killed in Russian captivity. On the night of July 28–29, the Russians massacred our people in Olenivka – brutally, callously, with absolute cynicism. More than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed, and over 100 were wounded. This is one of those war crimes that shows what Russia truly is. It is a state that completely disregards human life, an absolute evil that cannot refrain from killing.

We must always remember who we are dealing with. We must bring all our people home from Russian captivity – military personnel and civilians. It is important that Ukraine is not alone in this effort and that our friends around the world are helping us through their mediation. Since the start of the full-scale war, we have already succeeded in bringing 9,613 people home from Russian captivity. We remember every one of those who remain in captivity.

We will not forget a single crime committed against our people. Eternal memory to all those who lost their lives because of Russian evil. Eternal gratitude to everyone who is helping free our people and protect lives.
