@GHILLIEHQ@madcap412 Casual players have mostly abandoned the game, and any major overhaul will take a long time.
But the only players left are hardcore gamers—if you shift focus to casual players, you’ll definitely get backlash.
@wizard_bz@GameRant The biggest problem is the lack of resources in early maps.
Weak or new players die in higher-level areas and lose all their gear,
then have to spend ages farming in these resource-poor maps just to get ready to go back again.
Bungie failed to balance the resource system properly
@wizard_bz@GameRant Stack sizes are too small.
There are no gear score limits, so geared players farm new and weaker players in low-difficulty maps.
There’s no kill cam, no in-game cheating report system, and no firing range.
Enemy footsteps are also barely audible.
@wizard_bz@GameRant Enemy identification
Item identification
Weapon attachment removal
Quest guidance
Single-player experience
In matchmaking, good paid gear shouldn’t be paired with free gear
Early maps shouldn’t lack resources
Shop prices are too high
Grinding for factions is too excessive
@wizard_bz@GameRant During the February beta, many of us players saw tons of problems.
Any player could’ve noticed them.
I said it needed more polish and a delay.
Launching this broken game in March was a disaster.
Now player negativity spreads way faster than media.
@wizard_bz@GameRant You might not care, but other players do.
Negative buzz puts off potential buyers.
Most sales are from the US, so other regions don’t matter much.
The top PC markets are the US, China, and South Korea; Europe is mostly console.
@Viper9732@Soliel755@GameRant The game has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, but why has 60% of players left? It's only been a month. The game's great, but the more players quit?
@AlpenDitrix@mussellkaleb@f1ackm0nk3y@PaulTassi Just from what I can see here alone, there are over 1,000 sales, but the actual number is much higher.
That's because regular cheaters all join groups to buy cheats.
And this is just sales from one country, not including other countries or platforms.
@AlpenDitrix@mussellkaleb@f1ackm0nk3y@PaulTassi The game’s countless problems show Bungie simply isn’t fit for releasing on PC. Unfortunately, most of its sales are on PC. Western game companies are completely incompetent when it comes to anti-cheat on PC.
@AlpenDitrix@mussellkaleb@f1ackm0nk3y@PaulTassi There’s no kill cam or in-game reporting. You have to go to the main menu to report cheaters. It’s ridiculous. Is this Bungie’s way of dealing with cheaters?
@wizard_bz@GameRant Actually, I’ve had one concern since this game came out: Bungie can’t stop cheaters at all. It was like that in Destiny 2, and Marathon has the same problem. As casual players leave and the player base shrinks, the chance of matching against cheaters goes even higher.
@wizard_bz@GameRant News spreads way too fast in player communities and private groups.
This amplifies the game’s flaws and shortcomings.
Marathon’s rapid player loss is also deterring players who were still on the fence.
@PURExNOBLE@OlManMakowski Bungie couldn't stop cheaters in Destiny 2, and players didn't care at all. Western developers lack proper PC anti-cheat because they focus on consoles. But since most sales are on PC, it will be extremely tough for Marathon.
@AlpenDitrix@mussellkaleb@f1ackm0nk3y@PaulTassi Haha, no cheaters? Nope, there were cheaters on day one, you know? Quite a few people in my player groups were using them. You think they’re scared of getting banned? They pay more for cheats than the game itself. I hate these losers, but Bungie can’t do anything about it at all.
@Fatnicklepickle@IGN I'm not the boss, but are there any bosses willing to lose money?
If Sony was willing to run a game at a loss,
the far more costly Concord should still be running instead of being shut down.
@wizard_bz@GameRant Marathon and Bungie have a terrible reputation among players. Despite positive Steam reviews, most non-players think it’s bad. Many found it too hard in beta and post-launch, quit, and spread heavy negativity.
@Justjake5762842@faraway_lights@IGN There’s no middle ground for this game. For a month, negative feedback has spread fast in the community: not casual-friendly, bad for solo, too hard. If Bungie caters to casuals now, they’ll alienate their core fans.
