Guys, do not be fooled by the lure of riches on this platform.
From what I’ve seen, there are very few people here who’ve made money without having a tangible skill or asset, whether that be learned or transferable from another profession.
They don’t just rock up on X and go from being broke to being loaded.
Most either have real-world experience or a background in sales, marketing, business or the corporate world.
Those that don’t have the innate ability to learn and implement quickly. Or they have stability and influence from friends and family.
They’re already pre-programmed to succeed.
You’re fooling yourself if you think you can just go from zero to hero without something to offer or something to lean on.
Posting, commenting, going viral, etc, isn’t a long-term skill. It’s a fools game. Very few make it. And very few make serious money from it.
And eventually, even those that do realise they need to turn that short-term success into a lifelong skill somehow.
My advice?
Get off X and go all in learning ONE skill.
And I don’t just mean copywriting or sales or whatever sounds like the guru thing to do.
I include things like programming, design, VA or even trade skills like plumbing, carpentry or electrician.
These are skills that will always be in demand. And in which you are dependent on yourself. You can build businesses out of these.
Failing that, go and get a 9-5.
“I can’t, I don’t wanna be part of the grind…”
Yeah screw that mentality.
A 9-5 will give you an income AND you’ll learn transferable skills within the job you can nurture into something more.
It can be a foundation for future success and it’s more tangible than posting 400 comments a day.
I know. I do it.
So be self aware about what you’re doing on X. What your goals are. How much time you’re spending here.
Open your eyes. Be realistic.
The promises of riches can lure you in but foundation upon which they’re built are weak.
The true strength lies in what you can offer if this platform burned to the ground tomorrow.
Ha! Sorry man. I do pop in every now and again, read stuff and then disappear without a trace.
It’s only when I see obvious places I can add value that I choose to comment.
And you my friend, hit the jackpot today.
ps. Miss you too my man, but so glad to see you’re still killing it 🙌
Anyone else see an em dash now in copy and instantly feel their ChatGPT-radar switch on?
It’s a bit like when you tell your wife you can’t find something when she’s told you where it is, and then she becomes the CIA, Sherlock Holmes and Columbus rolled into one.
(And ultimately finds the thing in the same place she told you it was…)
@Swanagan Oh man. Never noticed that one.
The bold words in the middle of sentences is another one I’ve noticed.
It just amazes/annoys me how lazy some people are that they can’t even be arsed to edit it.
@ItsKieranDrew The problem writers will face/are facing though is persuading those who pay them that their craft is better than what AI can produce.
Which is why mastering your craft is just one part of the puzzle.
Proving you can do it is the other.
@AndrewWriteCopy You’re not taking advantage of upsells in the back-end - either there isn’t one or the upsells aren’t aligned to the front end or solving the next problem the buyer is facing.
After all, the best time to sell again is once they’ve already bought…
