@superme3541@CloneCone84@GunnelsWarren If Americans run their public services like Post and Rail with this system of public ownership run privately, it makes no sense why Americans object so much to their healthcare operating the same way as it does in Europe.
@superme3541@CloneCone84@GunnelsWarren European nations simply use that system of operating their rail, postal, water, power services — the same system used in the US to provide many public services — and the Europeans have extended it to also operate their healthcare…
@RealJakeBroe In preventing oil/gas reaching Crimea via Kherson Oblast and via ships from Russia, Ukraine is forcing Russia to risk transporting oil/gas onto Crimea via the Kerch Rail Bridge… turning the bridge into one massive highly-explosive easy target for the Ukrainian military.
@LordoftheSplash@dsids09@easyJet It also makes no difference to safety as Airbus design all planes allowing passengers two bags - a carry-on and also a laptop case/handbag.
If staff don’t care, and it makes no difference to passenger safety, there’s no reason for this employee to ruin a family’s holiday.
@LordoftheSplash@dsids09@easyJet If staff don’t care, why do they get so stroppy trying to enforce a rule they don’t care about? A bag taken as carry-on weighs exactly identical to the same bag checked-in and stored in the hold - so it makes no difference to the weight of the aircraft…
@dsids09@easyJet The EasyJet staff member’s attitude is repulsive. If he struggles working with customers in a service industry job at an airline, he should quit and get a job in a factory where he doesn’t have to work directly with customers.
@dsids09@easyJet Budget airlines like EasyJet often pay staff a commission for each bag they force passengers to pay additional check-in fees
It’s appalling this staff member prioritised his trying to earn commission instead of allowing you all to enjoy the beginning of your family holiday…
@Nicodemuslong1@TrickyDicky71@KatyKray73@KarenElke9074 We both spoke English with mid-Atlantic accent and noticeable Scottish twang picked up from our parents…. But after 30 years in Sydney, whenever my sister now visits UK, people ask her if she’s from Essex as her accent now sounds very similar to an Essex accent in UK…
@Nicodemuslong1@TrickyDicky71@KatyKray73@KarenElke9074 I’ve noticed this process in reverse with my sister… We were born to Scots living in Amsterdam, then grew-up in USA before both attending uni at Oxford… I stayed in London, she married a guy from Sydney 30 years ago and has lived there ever since…
@Nicodemuslong1@KatyKray73@KarenElke9074 That particular working class accent has now almost disappeared in London itself—only spoken by a much older generation that’s dying off. It’s slowly been replaced by an accent that combines its London roots with strong South Asian & Caribbean intonations and American hip-hop.
@Nicodemuslong1@KatyKray73@KarenElke9074 These people also brought their working class London accent with them to these “new towns” in the UK countryside in counties like Essex… That’s why Aussie accent and a British Essex accent sound so similar.
@Nicodemuslong1@KatyKray73@KarenElke9074 These “Ten Pound Poms” brought their very working class London accent with them to Australia.
Similarly, to solve overcrowding in London, UK govt built tonnes of social housing in “new towns” like Basildon in Essex outside London and allocated these homes to London’s poor…
@Scaramucci Trump wants regime change… Iran should offer to reopen Hormuz if Trump resigns—changing the US administration in White House
A majority of the GOP, most of the USA, and the entire rest of the world would agree with Iran’s demand of Trump leaving office in order to reopen Hormuz
@JimFergusonUK Iran is already allowing Chinese and Indian ships to pass through the straight of Hormuz….
No oil and gas heading for China and India is being blocked
There’s no reason for China to enter Trumps idiotic war with Iran…. as no oil heading to China is being blocked.
@MichaelARothman Renewables & nuclear supply a vast majority of every country in Europe’s energy… Europe has no need to clear Hormuz Straight.
Trump spent past year imposing huge tariffs on Europe… Trump never consulted Europe before invading Iran but now he wants Europe to fix his mess…
@MichaelARothman 70% of UK’s energy is from renewables & nuclear - only 30% is oil & gas… and UK gets its own oil & gas from North Sea. (Scotland in UK & Norway)
Why should UK get involved in Trump’s il-planned war with Iran when UK doesn’t need any oil & gas that travels through Hormuz?…
