@FreyaThinks argues that the narrative of the gas industry "ripping off" Australians is a misleading political strategy designed by activists to destroy the sector through aggressive taxation , while ignoring that the industry already pays tens of billions in taxes and carries massive upfront investment risks.
I need a clever name for this blossoming new genre of literature.
It consists of the climate-catastrophist-renewabro-optimists crying into their beers as reality crushes the dreams they've previously pitched as a budding economic nirvana.

Punter is either a) just a simple guy been taken for a ride by Australian Institute and their backers..who are evil…b) wants the destruction of our prosperity and way of life in Australia. If the former I feel sorry for the guy, if later.. well F U
Now live: The gas tax. Do companies pay enough tax or are Aussies getting ripped off?
Punters Politician and Senator Susan McDonald debate the gas tax.
The conversation you have been asking to have.

@EnergyWrapAU@TheAusInstitute made 1.088 BILLION A$ cents in 2025..and PAID NO TAX.
A struggling Melbourne musician pays more tax on a soy latte than the Australian Institute paid in tax for an entire year!!
In Norway the Aus Institute revenue would be 6.7 BILLION Norwegian ore.. NO TAX

Saul makes a timely and compelling point👇
The Albanese "Made in Australia" policy is a "push me pull you" deformed organism in direct opposition to Labor's high cost, low reliability energy policy. No amount of subsidy will save long term jobs.
Every energy intensive business in Australia - glass, steel, aluminium, refrigeration - any kind of heavy manufacture, is doomed, frogs in a saucepan. Our rivals in China, USA, Middle East are charging back to low cost reliable fuels - impossible to compete. Australia must do an immediate and complete U-turn.
Australia is no longer in shape to win in the economic arena any more.
Energy advantage was once our winning formula.
But due to our poor energy policy, we are shedding economic muscle mass. As competitors charge ahead.
Australia is heading onto the field with self inflicted injuries - our self imposed regulatory overburden, approval hurdles, green lawfare and investment deterrence continue unabated.
...
The chorus of complaints against Labor’s energy policies are finally growing too loud to ignore.
Many businesses held their tongue, fearful of political retaliation. But the scale of the damage is now too severe and too widely felt.
A mix of focussing on headlines over substance, ceding too much policy space to the green fringe, and an inability to deliver policy details, has led us here.
Australian blue collar jobs are dying in silence.
Manufacturing is closing due to higher gas and electricity costs. Most don’t make media headlines. They just disappear silently. The blue collar jobs, and families and communities they support, suffering in silence in their wake.
The government remains arrogant and in denial about what is happening.

@zhanginu Maybe domestic reservation is end game. System works well in WA. For majors it would be easier to plan for a fixed % volume in reservation than unknow volume price capped.
