Tree swallows parents in our nest box alternate foraging forays to bring food back to the nestlings. Each bird's flight was 2 to 3 minutes, with the arrival/departure manoever rivalling the timing of Cirque du Soleil's best! @Cirque
What you do on your property matters, no matter how small it is. The second largest population of endangered mottled duskywing occurs along the road sides of a low density residential area in Ontario. The folks that choose not to mow are supporting it's existence here.
It doesn't get much better than this! Finding creatures, treating them with care and respect, and then returning them to nature. Great job @SDStampeders ! Thanks for coming to Jaffa!
Loving the lichens and this Black & White Warbler's not too shabby either! 😉 These upside-down goofballs compensate for color with zebra-like patterns. Who's got your vote: Team Lichen or Team Warbler? Drop a comment with your pick! #NatureLovers#Birding
This time add blue jay, red-breasted nuthatch, mourning dove, and (out of frame) common grackle and purple finch. 9 species oblivious to the rain though the feeder domes help!
My first ever photos of a winter wren! Easy to locate with their boisterous, never-ending song, but they are otherwise secretive and not an easy bird to catch in the open.
A bird I don't see very often, a Least Bittern. This one flew past me in my backyard marsh. They are very small herons, and like to fish by hanging onto reeds and hovering just over the water. I am hoping that this one liked the fishing grounds and will stick around.
A few rare clean looks at American redstart and Black-throated green warblers this morning! New birds arriving following a nocturnal flight of over 400 million according to https://t.co/hW2jOOPaCC
A good sized flock of Cape May warblers fed unperturbed along the road yesterday. Very active after a long overnight flight, and apparently lots to eat!
