The reason why humans today have such a tough time feeling happy often, and instead flock to devices and distractions, is because we don’t have existential dangers staring us in the face every day.
Can you imagine back in the day what it was like? You’ve just escaped a tiger attack. Your tribe figured out how to kill the tiger and use it for food. You are incredibly relieved that the danger is gone AND you have food for the foreseeable future.
How would you live the next day? My guess is you’d be REALLY HAPPY and REALLY THANKFUL to be around.
Repeat this ALL THE TIME until you die. That’s how we used to live.
We don’t have this anymore, and so we seek it out with whatever distraction will help us replicate this feeling. And now we have millions upon millions of people in developed nations struggling to figure out why they feel the way the feel.
My opinion? We haven’t taken enough risks to make our survival existential. We haven’t triggered our survival mechanism that makes us feel grateful.
We should be taking WAY more risks.
Do you agree?
@coinbase probably a dumb question, but what’s the roadmap/plan for eth2 on Coinbase? Is it going to be folded into ETH as “staked”? Im referring to the app, in case there’s other behaviours on different platforms.
Let me be blunt. Those who are afraid of AI feel deep down that they are impostors & have no edge. If you have a 1) clear mind, 2) a deep, not just cosmetic, undertanding of your specialty, 3) and/or are original enough to reinvent yourself when needed, AI will be your friend.
In a year from now at the @OpenAI congressional hearing with Sam Altman:
Congressman: Sir, who is replying to my messages on ChatGPT? Who's writing those poems to my wife?
Sam: It's a large language mod--
Congressman: Just answer the question. Who wrote it?
Sam: Sir, there is no huma--
Congressman: No! Who wrote it? Give me a name.
@Dogtag_ I get that you need to make money, but the main reasons I have consistently used your services is the belief of “when things go wrong, they’re righted by the correct preparation”. Offering £56 for a £800 odd setup isn’t okay.
Thanks for reaching out. I’ve done as instructed.
I think @Dogtag_ travel insurance might just be taking the biscuit when claiming to be award-winning.
Paying a premium price, I'd expect a premium product.
I had an £800 snowboard set up stolen in the resort, and they've offered me £53.80! Shooking.
@AskWithings I’ve not used my body+ scale for a while. Setting it back up, I’m consistently getting the screenshoted message after it’s connected to wifi and it’s configuring. I’ve done hard resets, unpaired my phone, and followed all other steps I can find online. Any ideas?
@Salomonsnow umm... whyyyyy don't you include any dimensions in the "details" section of any of your boards? Legit having to search other websites to find them. Zzz.
I’m all for saving the coral reefs, but can someone tell me why a cat food brand took on that torch? Asking for a friend who often has to justify ideas.
@Pharmacy2U generally a great service, the only thing that really needs to be fixed is the prescription reminder service. If I get a 2 months supply, I get pestered as if I only get 1 month. That means for every month out of two I'm constantly getting emails and texts?
