So my dryer stopped heating a while back.
Looked at replacement costs and they want like 500 for a used dryer around here.
F that, ordered a 25 dollar kit of thermostats, fuses, and a new heating element off Amazon.
Tore that MF apart, probed around and found the thermal cutoff had blown and was reading open.
Replaced that, along with the high limit thermostat just in case it was stuck open.
Dryer heats again and will probably outlive me.
They dont make em like they used too, this dryer is purely mechanical.
Also, sheet metal is sharp, go figure.
Don't be afraid to just fix your own stuff folks.
@chzchopgnipgnop Yeah I haven't managed to mangle myself that bad. Most have been like knife cuts, some sheet metal cuts, etc. Usually pretty clean and thin. I can imagine that was not a very pleasant experience, and my heart would have probably dropped out of my ass.
@ocdjeremy Yeah, I know my limits, but this was just me being dumb this time when I had my mechanics gloves not 10 feet away lol. 2am repairs aren't the smartest thing to do
@SourceCodeplz@RuiCarrilho5 Got mine running full bf16 max context at 190tk/s but im on an rtx 5080. Getting ready to test but my expectations are tempered
@loganlippoldt yup I am the same way. How much more can I mess it up? Worst case, its still broke and I can salvage some parts off it. Best case, I can fix it and we save a ton of money.
@AIandDesign@thsottiaux@OpenAIDevs I've still got 66% usage left for the week, and I am bummed cause I keep trying to burn it down fast enough to use my resets before the 29th. I have been running 4 things at once on 6.1 ultra fast. ugh
