Even more new sermons by St Augustine found (after Dolbeau's 1990 Mainz find and 2008 discoveries in Erfurt) in a Polish monastery. Quite astonishing news. https://t.co/KbgVtoLm7b
People are 75 percent more likely to become divorced if a friend is divorced and 33% more likely to divorce if a friend of a friend is divorced. The contagion of divorce can spread through a social network, affecting friends up to two degrees removed: https://t.co/RdJz9g9QT9
Seoul's big tiny Orthodox cathedral gets a cute big story in Korea's biggest newspaper. Rightly notes that it used to be a major landmark between downtown Seoul and the area where parliament is, but is now surrounded by much taller apartment buildings.
The church my family was at for three generations but left is no longer hiding its new true agenda and I couldn't be more pleased.
For years people would miss the signs. But what was once whispered in leadership circles is now celebrated and there's no denying it.
It's a good thing, actually.
Versions of this very question were posed and debated at the University of Paris in the 13th century, and the thesis that God could NOT create multiple worlds was condemned in 1277. It was Aristotle (and Averroists, I guess), not ecclesiastical authorities, who insisted that there could only be one world.
@father_rmv@luisdizon Wait, “Catholicism holds that public revelation ended with the apostles”? Certainly doesn’t think that it’s still regularly and consistently wide open. But it’s surprising if stated that way.
"If you live badly, no one will touch you; but if you begin to live well, there will immediately be afflictions & temptations." - St Barsanuphius of Optina
I've been to many of their events and I'm not sure how much they understand Christianity or even Catholicism, but there's free food and interesting people and it's a refreshing break for techies new to SF looking to talk about tech from a more intellectual or philosophical angle.

I recently heard an Orthodox priest say Mary "consented" [SIC], though of course he was not trying to create a permission structure for abortion. "Non-binary" is a loaded term, often used by people who might misgender or emasculate the Father and the Son, but the Trinity as a whole is not gendered, even though we often use male pronouns for God when speaking English.
There is so much about Talarico's theology and approach to it to take issue with. Those should be merely included on a longer list. And arguing that the Trinity is definitely necessarily a "he" seems silly at best.
